Publisher's Summary

Welcome to Wychwood-on-Lea...a not-too-quaint village where frosty evenings, welcoming fires, and second chances will make this a Christmas you’ll never forget.

Anna Vere has escaped to the Cotswolds for Christmas to try to heal from her broken engagement and, far worse, her broken dreams. When her reserved room at a bed-and-breakfast is flooded, she takes up the offer of camping out in Willoughby Close, the converted stables of the nearby manor house...and is taken under the wing of sexy local carpenter Colin Heath.

What starts out as merely helping a neighbor in need turns into far more as Colin and Anna share a surprisingly intense and emotional connection, weaving their own Christmas magic as they spend the holiday together. But Anna has a secret she's scared to reveal, something that could destroy the fragile bond they've just created, and Colin knows she’s only in England for a short time. Can these two sudden soul mates risk their hearts for a love that has yet to be tried and tested?

Get swept away by this poignant and heartwarming story, set in beautiful Wychwood-on-Lea, in the English Cotswolds. And look forward to four more books set in Willoughby Close, where everyday miracles and happily-ever-afters are guaranteed.

cute short story

I always enjoy stories set in English villages. This one was short and sweet, Insta love, some angst and a happy ending! New author for me and a new narrator. Both enjoyable for an afternoon listen.

Good Story

Justin always makes me happy with her ability to change her voice to man or woman and this time she spoke like an American. She's good!! The story was unbelievable in some ways but good. I stayed interested.

Charming little Christmas story

I really liked this sweet love story and Christmasy cozy book. Perfect for taking a break from the thrillers and deep reads I usually listen to. Loved Colin and Annie and the narrator was great. Am def reading the next book!

Oh my goodness... I found a new series to love!

New Yorker Anna booked a vacation at a quaint B&B in the English Countryside after a painful breakup. However, once there, she finds that nothing goes as planned... the B&B is flooded and through a series of events, she ends up meeting a hunky handyman who is refurbishing some local cottages and staying in his spare room. Will she take a chance on love with Colin, even though her "real" life is back home in the US? This is quick, heartwarming listen, and I was so excited to know that there are 4 more in the series! Yay!!

Short and average

Short instalove story about a woman traveling alone at Christmas and the friendly contractor who comes to her rescue. I found the story average. The two main characters were okay, but honestly every other character in the story was pretty dislikable. From the first landlady who greeted her by telling her that her room was not available without a good solution, to the next landlord and her son who wouldn’t let her camp in an empty house, to the H’s sisters - no one did anything but be hostile and uncaring towards her. This supposed charming English village was not welcoming at all, and how Colin thought she’d want to live there was a mystery. The h’s medical issues were very unfortunate but not debilitating or fatal, yet she allowed them to ruin her life and affect the current and all future relationships. I wanted to feel empathetic but instead I started feeling like her ex-fiancé and wanted her to stop letting it take over her life. I wish the author had handled it differently.

Short and Sweet

Great short holiday read. For the length the characters were pretty well developed as was the setting. Another hundred pages would have fully fleshed out both. Overall, a great, sweet read.

True Romance

Sweet story. The characters are lovable while still vulnerable. Pleasant listen for a mini escape.

Utter piffle!

This was “included in” so I gave it a go because it was free. If this is indicative of the free stuff, I’d rather not bother. Woeful.

Wouldn’t recommend

Didn’t feel like either characters or plot were well developed, no depth to anything. Result was a pretty boring story.

Ouch!

This book was a freebie so I can’t say too much except I’m glad I hadn’t paid for it. Weak story, the narrative was bizarre in places. When attempting to speak as a man with an English accent the pronunciation was awful. I will have the word Onna ( should be Anna ) playing in my hand for a while. Not for me.

Give the series a chance !

These are lovely little books, yes the narrator is'nt English and there's a few times she gets it wrong, but she didn't do a bad job, think some of the reviews are a bit harsh. I ended up listening to all four in a row, just a happy listen :-)

Horrible choice of Narrator!

Story wasn't terrible, and Collin was a loveable character, even if a lil slow off the mark. BUT it was so hard to keep listening with the choice of Narrator....grating and her awful mispronunciations, just not sure why she was chosen for a British Story...at least youcould have schooled her rather than leave her to the cultural stumbling blocks and phrases she obviously had no clue. 🤔🤨😕

Not worth bothering with.

A feeble and rather silly story made worse by an appalling narrator. Over exaggerated descriptions.

Nice story

Really nice Christmas short story, shame about the narrator's wining voice and terrible English accent. Do some research, someone born and bred in the Cotswolds, doesn't have a London accent.

storyline was ok. narration strained & nervous

story was ok. struggled to get into it at first.
narrator has a very strained voice.
i found it a bit hard to listen to because the narrator did not sound relaxed. More like extremely nervous or forced. it sounded like the characters were very depressing. Not enthusiastic even with the happy events in the book.

A nice simple story

A Cotswold Christmas is a nice story although it lacks any real depth. The ending is predictable and lacking.
