Publisher's summary

Someone has been collecting secrets...someone is going to pay.

Chloe Martin is finally feeling at home again in Jericho Falls, NV. No one is staring anymore or asking how she's handling being back in town after so many years away. But troubling information surfaces about Police Chief Garner that makes Chloe question everything. And when there's another suspicious death in town, Chloe finds that a collection of secrets might hold the information she needs to solve another mystery in the quaint turn-of-the-century town she now calls home.

A Collection of Secrets picks up where book one, A History of Murder, left off. If you love mysteries set in small towns, with cute sidekick pets and a bit of romance, the Jericho Falls Cozy Mysteries are for you.

very enjoyable story

I really liked this story, the mystery and the characters.
I understand that I was lacking the context of some things, as I didn't read the first book in the series, but it dod not bother me too much, as it sometimes does.
The narrator was good and made the whole experience very enjoyable.

Cloe hasn't met a mystery she doesn't want to fix.

Going out with a police man can land you in all sorts of situations, in Cloe's case it is a fresh murder scene hidden behind a complaining trailer park would be romeo. And you know Cloe, she hasn't met a mystery she doesn't want to solve. Gran and her friends get involved in the sleuthing and old hurts are healed along the way. This is a good clean mystery suitable for teens onwards. Nicely narrated. Recommended

Fun sequel in a cozy mystery series

Collection of Secrets is a cozy mystery that picks up a few months after the first book ends. There's enough background and character backstory that it could be read as standalone.

The title is a good one. It seemed like everyone has a secret or two that comes out as the plot unfolds, and Chloe's past collides with the present. The threads left hanging in the first story are tied up neatly in this book. I hope that doesn't mean we've seen the last of Chloe and her friends in Jericho Falls!

Chloe has all the best intentions, but she is apt to say or do the wrong thing, especially with the Chief. She learns from her mistakes (and he learns from his) and their slow burn romance progresses. In fact, they find the body while they're on a date. She investigates on her own when she doesn't agree with the Chief's assessment of the circumstances, causing some trouble for him again. Really, he should have learned his lesson the first time and paid attention to her theories! :)

A fun cast of characters, vivid descriptions, great dialogue, and timely clues make the story easy to listen to. The ending was another twist I didn't see coming, which I loved again.

Kristin Hamilton returns to perform the audio version, with different voices for each character. She is perfect for channeling Chloe and bringing the narrative to life.

Fun New Cozy Mystery Series

If you haven't read the first book, I would recommend reading before this one. I think they could be read independently but it's much better in order. I love that this is a clean cozy series that I can let my teens read. The mystery side isn't a predictable one which I love... Nice to have enough twists and turns to keep the puzzle going. There's an element of romance in this book but it's more of a slow burn and may take a few books to really heat up. Definitely recommend it to the clean cozy mystery reader.

Parents- PG-PG13 good for middle grade readers to adults
Language- don't remember any bad language, definitely no f-bombs
Violence- a murder but nothing too graphic
Sexual Content- very clean, no bedroom scenes

The narrator did a great job with the differentiation and acting skills. I did like it better at 1.3x speed but I do tend to listen to many books a bit faster.
