Publisher's summary

It's time I found myself....

Desperate to please her family who wants to see her settle down, Charlotte is looking for someone to bring home to pose as her boyfriend. She's steadily been working her way up to her dream job at a magazine in New York City. But her success goes unnoticed by her family, who are more focused on the newest additions than Charlotte's professional conquests.

Totally surrounded in your circles....

Kaden Drake might be the new guy at the magazine, but it doesn't take long for Charlotte to catch his eye. When the editor-in-chief pairs them together for a project, Kaden sees it as the perfect opportunity to ask her out. Only, Charlotte has other ideas.

Faced with another lonely Christmas, Kaden agrees to go with Charlotte to her family Christmas back home. Among the decorations and home-cooked meals, it doesn't take long for feelings between them to develop. But are they real or just a product of the charade?

A cute, fake boyfriend, contemporary, holiday romance

A Christmas Charade is a cute, fake boyfriend, contemporary, holiday romance. The story is an engaging and quick paced with interesting characters, but there is not a lot of depth to it. It’s just a pleasant diversion.

The narrator of the audiobook does fine with the main character, but her male voice sounds somewhat robotic and some of her secondary characters sound annoyingly nasally. She is best when she sticks to her own voice.

A proposal at Christmas

It is a contemporary usual. A woman has a fake fiance except can it be more? I love it even though the story is a little overdone. I got this book from a contributor and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Fake Boyfriend for Christmas

Kaden and Charlotte work for the same magazine in New York City where Charlotte has seniority and her editor has asked her to work with the Kaden to help him hone his skills. He asks her out on a date, she declines, but it turns out that she needs him to pretend to be her boyfriend when she goes home for Christmas. She's the child who chose a career over home and family, and her parents have never stopped letting her know that her choice isn't what they'd like to see. Even her sister, and two children, have a hand in making her uncomfortable. Kaden is totally at home with her family, calm and happy, to Charlotte's stressed and snarky. He tried to find ways to keep her happy when she had a meltdown over forgetting to buy Christmas gifts. It was a great premise, but I didn't like the character of Charlotte until the end, but her parents were horrible and hard-hearted. When the truth came out, her father handled it in a most pathetic fashion. Even though her mom wasn't quite as hateful, she treated Charlotte like a child. There was more angst than there needed to be, but the story itself was delightful. The narration was good, but I felt that there were too many times when Charlotte's inner thoughts were done in the same tone as Kaden's actual voice. I had to listen carefully to figure out which one of them was speaking. All in all, it's a nice addition to the Small Town Christmas series and I can recommend it.

A Christmas Charade

A good Christmas story with a believable storyline and likable characters, the Narrator did a good job bringing it to life

contemporary romance

This was a fun contemporary romance most of the time. I liked the characters. Not suitable for young readers. I didn't like some of the language. I didn't like the inference that boyfriends and girlfriend need to sleep together. I believe that should be reserved for married couples. Otherwise, I felt it was a fun Christmas story.

poor quality heroine

The author makes these so called heroines hard to like. Charlotte was a bit self absorbed and sharp tongue and quick to irk. Her sister Olivia was like a gestapo queen interrogator. What a family. All mom wants is babies and no regard for professional achievements. Dad was a big crab and stuck in the previous century. What a family!! Once again the hero. Kaden is used and abused by the other characters especially Charlotte. Wow!!! I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator was okay.

Good Christmas romance story

A good story, a quick and easy listen. This book is just over 3.5 hours long. This book is a stand alone story. Even tough it is book 2, it has different characters and a different story line.

The narration was good but I would have preferred a male and female narrator. Sometimes I was not sure which character was speaking.

You can read the synopsis in the description so I will not repeat that information.

Sweet Christmas story.

Charlotte loves her job as a senior editor at a magazine in NYC...in fact, she loves her life. So what if she have a significant other...untilllll she has to go home for a week over the Christmas holiday. The pressure of being single gets to Charlotte and she begs a favor of the new staff writer, Kaden. Kaden agrees to be Char’s pretend bf and accompanies her to her parents. Surely there’s nothing wrong with pretending...
This is a sweet Christmas story that reminds us of the importance of being honest and taking time for relationships. Excellent job by the narrator.
