It's time I found myself....

Desperate to please her family who wants to see her settle down, Charlotte is looking for someone to bring home to pose as her boyfriend. She's steadily been working her way up to her dream job at a magazine in New York City. But her success goes unnoticed by her family, who are more focused on the newest additions than Charlotte's professional conquests.

Totally surrounded in your circles....

Kaden Drake might be the new guy at the magazine, but it doesn't take long for Charlotte to catch his eye. When the editor-in-chief pairs them together for a project, Kaden sees it as the perfect opportunity to ask her out. Only, Charlotte has other ideas.

Faced with another lonely Christmas, Kaden agrees to go with Charlotte to her family Christmas back home. Among the decorations and home-cooked meals, it doesn't take long for feelings between them to develop. But are they real or just a product of the charade?

It is a contemporary usual. A woman has a fake fiance except can it be more? I love it even though the story is a little overdone. I got this book from a contributor and this is my honest and voluntary review.

A Christmas Charade is a cute, fake boyfriend, contemporary, holiday romance. The story is an engaging and quick paced with interesting characters, but there is not a lot of depth to it. It’s just a pleasant diversion.

The narrator of the audiobook does fine with the main character, but her male voice sounds somewhat robotic and some of her secondary characters sound annoyingly nasally. She is best when she sticks to her own voice.

Kaden and Charlotte work for the same magazine in New York City where Charlotte has seniority and her editor has asked her to work with the Kaden to help him hone his skills. He asks her out on a date, she declines, but it turns out that she needs him to pretend to be her boyfriend when she goes home for Christmas. She's the child who chose a career over home and family, and her parents have never stopped letting her know that her choice isn't what they'd like to see. Even her sister, and two children, have a hand in making her uncomfortable. Kaden is totally at home with her family, calm and happy, to Charlotte's stressed and snarky. He tried to find ways to keep her happy when she had a meltdown over forgetting to buy Christmas gifts. It was a great premise, but I didn't like the character of Charlotte until the end, but her parents were horrible and hard-hearted. When the truth came out, her father handled it in a most pathetic fashion. Even though her mom wasn't quite as hateful, she treated Charlotte like a child. There was more angst than there needed to be, but the story itself was delightful. The narration was good, but I felt that there were too many times when Charlotte's inner thoughts were done in the same tone as Kaden's actual voice. I had to listen carefully to figure out which one of them was speaking. All in all, it's a nice addition to the Small Town Christmas series and I can recommend it.
