Shocking crime, courageous survivor

Outstanding true crime book, maybe the best I've read. Narrator was really good but mouth noises need to stop.

Read of you are on the fence

I almost did not get this book due to the reviews saying it dragged and such. I am so happy I did though because THE BOOK IS FANTASTIC!!! Kept me hooked the entire time. I never felt like it dragged at all. I enjoy Phelps, jerry bledsoe for reference. I dislikes the classics like devil in the white city and midnight in the garden of good and evil. I found those boring and dragging on. So that hopefully gives you an idea of my taste. This book was great!!

WOW! Peernok is a piece of work

I didn’t know this true crime story so I was intrigued when I saw it. Peernok is unbelievable and such a sociopath and psychopath and any other term one can attach to such an arse! What he did to his estranged wife and daughter, Natasha, is heartbreaking. The fact that he was able to get himself transferred from Pelican Bay Penitentiary is so so surprising to me. They should have left this piece of work in there. I feel for Natasha as she is still having to hide from him for as long as he is alive because he has put hits out on her before. Terrifying and heartbreaking.

you'll need a strong stomach to read the first part of this book as it ia graphic in the relating of the crime. he gives good descriptions of the actors. the narration brings out his sarcasm. he does go on a bit at the end, but overall a good book.

Excellent Storytelling

How do you catch someone as slick and as violent as Peernock? It seems, throughout the book, that it is impossible, no matter how many run-ins he has with the law. It's great to read about justice being done.

Very good book. A little long but lots of good details. Such a psychopath this man was. Self absorbed and a monster.

It's not so easy to find well written true crime books these days, and this was thoughtfully handled. I've known one or two sociopaths in my time, (not murderous ones, but destructive enough) and I suppose I read these books so I remember to steer clear of the red flags. This is a terribly dark story of survival, very well researched. The author is a surprisingly good reader - just animated enough to give importance to the right passages, lending the subject matter plenty of humanity without either going over the top or being boring. Worth the credit.

This was a very good book. Although, a little drawn out it was very good until the end. The author/narrator was excellent. Very dark and eerie story, this one... So sad for the family.

This is a well written true crime story. The narration is excellent and the story is fascinating. The daughter helps make her father pay for his abuse, manipulation and the murder of her mother.

Great start, couldn't wait for it to end already.

I loved the first few chapters. And then it dragged on and on and on, way too much information over and over. And the while the narrator/author has a good voice, he is so obviously biased and makes it clear how much he hates the villain in the book that it get's to be irritating. Also when saying words that start with a "w", one does not have to annunciate the W so much that it sounds like he's blowing air through his lips. Try it. Say "weather" and blow air through your lips when you say it. It's comical.
