Halloween LaVeau has settled into her role as leader of the Underworld nicely. For once things are going exactly as planned. The universe has other plans for Hallie though and decides to put a crack in her big black cauldron. When a mysterious vampire appears in Hallie's life, she must figure out if he's a bad guy or if she can trust him. Hallie is shocked to discover the vampire shares a bond with a special someone in her life. Hallie is convinced that the chaos in her life has something to do with a new spell book that shows up at LaVeau Manor. Now Hallie must find out why and where the book came from before she potentially loses everything she holds dear in her life.

Needs editing and re-reading

this book has the potential of being a good book. However there was inconsistencies through the book. The author needs to re-read the material so that she gets things correct that has been said before. The virtual voice made a number of mistakes with pronouncing words or using words that were not there

Head character had too much internal dialogue

The AI voice was horrible. The story may have been better but the flat voice was just horrible and it just got worse instead of better. I didn’t finish the book!!

Simplistic writing, AI reading is poor

Writing is strange maybe AI is used to write as well as read this story

Narration distracts from a good story

This is a book set in/around NOLA and the robotic voice (like a midwestern monotone reporter reading a prompt of words whose accent and meaning she did not really understand) really lost the charm and local color that this audio version needed and also made the story a bit hard to follow. The story looked like it was laying the foundation for a fun series and initial character development, but not sure if I will move forward without a real narrator.

Terrible digital voice

I could not get past 5 minutes the digital voice was terrible it was so monotone and very awful
