Publisher's Summary

All the money in the world means nothing without someone with whom to share it.

Billionaire actor Brent McKasson wanted something different in life. Tired of being typecast in the same action roles, he decides to take some time off to think. However, his car breaks down in the small town of Soda Spurs, Texas. Forced to rely on people he doesn't know, Brent rediscovers the charm of a small town and a feisty female mechanic, but will it be enough for him to stay, or will the fame call him back?

Sam Jenkins moved to Soda Spurs after a hard breakup. All she wanted to do was open up an auto shop and return to her small-town roots. Then, Brent McKasson lands in her lap. Literally. She's the only mechanic in town, and with the only hotel in town booked for the Cowboy festival, she is forced to open her spare room to him for the weekend. What she hadn't expected was to open her heart to him as well.

But can a spark between two opposites create a lasting love? Or will his fame and her independence keep them apart?

Lovely story

Sweet romantic story of two couples falling in love. Love how after Brent knew what he wanted he let nothing stand in his way of getting it. Sam was a much harder nut to crack. Her past relationships made her very cautious. It was sometimes frustrating the way she dealt with Brent. But, as with a small town, with the help of some meddling friends it all worked out in the end. This story was about dealing with loss, finding yourself, and your faith in God. If this sounds like something you'll like then get this book. The narrator did a good job bringing the characters to life. He was able to capture the whole small town feel that this story portrayed.

Sweet Romance

When Billionaire actor, Brent Mckasson's car broke down outside of Soda Spurs Texas, he didn't realize his life was going to change for the better. Brent didn't know if he should trust his precious Porsche to a woman mechanic. Sam Jenkins, a mechanic, who moved to the Small town after a bad breakup. Brent forgot how nosy and friendly a small town could be, since he grew up in one. Sam didn't want to get involved with any man ,since her previous boyfriend cheated on her. This story is about forgiveness, trust, love , Jealousy, money, trusting in God and finding faith. Can Sam still have her independence while being with Brent? Can Brent realize that being with Sam is so different, than the most women he's been with? can they both put aside their differences to make their relationship work, even when both their exes try to break them up? I love how Lorana Hoopes described the small town of Soda Spurs. The connection between the townspeople and Sam is exactly what I would expect ..Everyone knows everything. and finally their acceptance of Brent. C J Mcallister narration is excellent and brought all the characters to life. I was gifted this audio in exchange for an honest review.

A solid story between a plain speaking small town mechanic and a movie star. The story does as good job of humanizing Brent as the movie star, keeping him a real person and not an idol.

Sam has a chip on her shoulder and although proclaims herself a Christian, has some definite prejudices stemming from past hurts. The story unfolds as Brent & Sam work through their issues.

C.J. McAllister did a terrific job narrating.

I recieved a free Audible copy, at my request, in exchange for a honest review.

The Actor and The Mechanic

Brent McKasson was a spoiled rich movie actor who let money and fame change him. Having his Porsche break down in the middle of nowhere Soda Spurs caused him to meet mechanic Sam Jenkins who helped him reassess his life and what he wanted out of it. I was frustrated by Sam’s continuous lack of trust in Brent. He was willing to do whatever it took to make their relationship work, but she kept pushing him away because he was rich. A woman he previously dated was crazy and tried to drive a wedge between them, but Sam also jumped to conclusions without talking with Brett first. She also let her pride prevent her from accepting assistance. There were plenty of ups and downs and some funny moments in this faith based romance.

The narrator was monotone and I had to speed up the narration to get through it. He added some inflections and voice changes, but I thought the author did a much better job when she narrated her own books.

A wonderful clean sweet second chance

A wonderfully well written sweet romance. This engaging storyline focused on second chances and trusting God. Its inspirational and uplifting while including small town community support and love. These opposite type characters are wonderful and believable with much more in common than thought possible as they are brought together through a whirlwind of events. I voluntarily listened to this enjoyable fun clean romance that is beautifully and expressively narrated. Listening to the portrayal and voices of the character really bring the story to life.
