Publisher's Summary

Aurora "Roe" Teagarden's fortunes change when a deceased acquaintance names her as heir to a rather substantial estate, including money, jewelry, and a house complete with a skull hidden in a window seat. Roe concludes that the elderly woman has left her a murder to solve. Now she must identify the victim and figure out which of her new, ordinary-seeming neighbors is a murderer - without putting herself in deadly danger.

Better delivery than story

Don't get me wrong I enjoyed this book, stayed with it til the end. I like Charlaine Harris's prose, it's very easy on the war. The narrator was excellent and really got to grips with the accent and sway of the south. I loved listening to her. But what let this down was the story. Or rather the lack of it. As a kind of crime fiction this really left a lot to be desired, hardly any clues to tease the reader with. The solution really just appeared in the lap of the lead. Rather disappointing- but as I've said, lots of things I've like but I'll maybe say goodbye to Aurora for now

Will try one more

This is the second in the series I've tried. Will try one more- but I don't find character as funny or sympathetic as Snookie.

A ggod enough beach read

For something undemanding to snooze to under a beach umbrella this would do very well. The pace is not fast, the characters are non-threatening and all in all it's a safe read.

Enjoyable.

A very enjoyable read but it does annoy me considerably that the next two books are not available to listen to. The narrator brings the characters to life and the sub plot dealing with Aurora’s love life provides a wry chuckle. Would recommend but the listener will have to find different media to enjoy more of the series in order.

Enthralling!

I remember parts of this story from the TV series. The plot was well constructed. The narrator was good. It was amusing at times.

Another great listen, amazing

A truly brilliant Aurora Teagarden book, and she doesn't get into too much trouble. A legacy, a skull, and baby came too!

A Wonderful Read .. Well .. Listen!!

I have seen a few of the Aurora T films and thought it was time I read all the books. I concluded I don't have the time, so listening, for me, is the perfect solution. This book is so good, narration spot on, inflections in just the right places, it moves along at such a lovely pace, you can't wait to find out if you guessed correctly who did what !!
