Publisher's summary

Fans and critics alike raved over USA Today best-selling author Sally Thorne’s smash hit debut novel, The Hating Game - which sold in over 20 countries. Now she’s back with an unforgettable romantic comedy about a twin sister and brother struggling over an inheritance - and the sexy best friend who comes between them.

Crush: a strong and often short-lived infatuation, particularly for someone beyond your reach....

If Darcy Barrett hadn’t met her dream man when she was eight years old, the rest of the male population wouldn’t be such a let-down. No one measures up to Tom Valeska, aka the best man on Earth, not in looks, brain, or heart. Even worse is the knowledge that her twin brother Jamie saw him first, and claimed him forever as his best friend.

Tom’s off limits and loyal to her brother, 99 percent. One percent of Tom has had to be enough for Darcy, and her adoration has been sustained by his shy kindness. And if she’s honest, his tight t-shirts.

Now Darcy’s got three months left to get her life together, before her twin insists on selling the tumble-down cottage they inherited from their grandmother. By night, she’s working in a seedy bar, shooting down lame pickups from bikers. By day, she’s sewing underwear for her best friend and wasting her award-winning photography skills on website shots of pens and novelty mugs. She’s enjoying living the messy life, and a glass of wine or 10… until that one night, when she finds a six-foot-six perfect package on her porch.

Tom’s here, he’s bearing power tools - and he’s single for the first time in a decade.

As a house flipper extraordinaire, Tom has been dispatched by Jamie to give the cottage a drastic facelift that will result in a ton of cash. Darcy doesn’t appreciate Tom’s unsentimental approach to knocking down walls, and he really, really doesn’t approve of her current burnout boyfriend. They can’t be in the same room together without sparks flying - and it’s not the faulty wiring. One bedroom wall separates them at night, and even that’s looking flimsy.

Will Tom ever see Darcy as anything other than a little-sister obstacle to get around? And can she stand up to her most formidable opponent - her twin? This time around, she’s determined to make Tom Valeska 99 percent hers, and he’s never managed to say no to her yet…

Editor's Pick

The perfect romance to start the year with
"I caught up on a lot of romance while I was on maternity leave, and my favorite book from those months was probably Sally Thorne’s debut The Hating Game. When I saw she had a new book releasing—99 Percent Mine—I knew with 100% certainty that I’d claim it as my Editors Select. She is a master at the slow burn, and her characters have a way of needling their way into your heart and not budging. I finished the book weeks ago, and I’m still quoting my favorite line…to myself. I need some friends to listen so I can start quoting it to other people and not look completely insane. Sally, please write faster, so that I can continue gobbling up your work!" —Katie O., Audible Editor

I’ll read every book she writes!

Such a talented and witty author. Loved the extra epilogues at the end - so perfect!

Ignore any non 5 star reviews!

Friends, 100s of audiobooks and this is no doubt a top 10 for me. I dreamed of these characters last night and I am so sad it’s over (finished the book in a day!). Narration excellent, Darcy and Tom are a dream. Totally different than The Hating Game, what’s next from these two, I’m ready!

100% Loved!

Sally Thorne continues to impress me as a writer. I had read some reviews where people didn't like this book and especially in comparison to The Hating Game. They didn't like the characters. Well I loved them and could relate to them. I could feel Darcy's loneliness. Sally really knows how to bring characters to life. I got emotional for Tom and Darcy. I was invested in learning their history and story. I was compelled to keep listening. To me that is a sign of a good book.

Totally Gosh Darn Adorable

I checked the reviews after listening to this entirely sweet charmer of a book expecting rave opinions and nary a downer. I can be pretty dang picky, and I'm so surprised that there were people who didn't like it! I thought the characters were excellently flawed — in a way most romances do such a terrible job at (similar to the way people answer that question, "What's your worst quality" at interviews). It's still a romance novel of course, so there are character and plot exaggerations, but that exaggeration is also what makes romances so dang fun, amirite? Its part of the genre. I really appreciated Sally Thorne's narration (without knowing it was her, actually. I generally think its a risk for authors to narrate their own books). She had good inflection, her voice is very good, and I could tell the characters apart easily. This book is also capital-everything HAWT and slow burn, which was exactly what I was expecting from the author of The Hating Game. I actually don't see that the two books are fundamentally so different — they're clearly written by the same person, with all of the metaphor and description and internal monologues and mistakes and drama that made the first so fun. I would listen again in a heart beat ;)

Loose ends

I wasn’t a big fan of this book. There were loose ends with the grandmother’s passing that I thought were going to tie into the novel, but never did. The first few chapters had a heavy focus on her job at the bar and characters who worked at the bar, only for it to not be a part of the overall story. Tom also acts almost uncharacteristic towards the end of the book and I felt it did not fit the storyline.

I don’t think it’s so bad that you can’t finish the novel like some of these comments suggest. When I started this book I didn’t even realize it was from the same author as The Hating Game. There were similarities in the writing but the characters were completely different, a lot rougher around the edges.

Loved it!

Sad to me so many are comparing this to Hating Game. It’s different & pace is a bit slower but the characters are well developed & lovable! Narration was awesome & I really enjoyed this one!

Very misleading…

Although the details, book cover, and initial music proclaims this story as a romantic comedy, there was never an instance where I detected humor. Even the narrator’s tone was semi-gloomy throughout.

Highly anticipated and worth the wait!

I pre-ordered this book as soon as it was available because I loved The Hating Game so much. It set the bar high and I was worried that it would be impossible to reach the same level of awesomeness. But I loved 99 Percent Mine too. The characters felt so real and well-developed. They were flawed in relatable ways. The story was interesting and lovely. It made me want to be a little braver and a whole lot more loving to the important people in my world. It is a fabulous listen!

Couldn't finish it

I only got about 7 hours into it and I couldn't listen to it one more minute. I've only quit listening to a book a handful of times. I've listened to a book at least one a week for the last 7 years.
The narrator was ok ... it was sometimes hard to differentiate between the male and female voices. I didnt care what happened to the characters. I felt it was all shallow and petty. Maybe it gets better at the end, I just couldn't get there.

Solid

Solid romance, quick read- very different attitude for a protagonist than the usual whiny and sensitive lead- I really liked the change and the book was very enjoyable.
