Publisher's summary

"This is the USS Fort Worth at Coast Guard Station Galveston. We have room for 41 survivors. We will update the count as we accept new passengers. Message repeats."

In 2037, a father and daughter travel from Dallas to Galveston in hope of rescue. Driven by a shortwave radio message, they risk their lives to steal bicycles and brave the 300 mile journey down a highway littered with abandoned cars and stalked by murderous gangs. They have nothing but an empty gun, a bag of boiled tree nuts, and each other.

A MUST listen

Would you listen to 300 Miles to Galveston again? Why?

Yes - the story is simple, yet incredibly powerful and moving.

What other book might you compare 300 Miles to Galveston to and why?

The Road by Cormac McCarthy. I'm not going to say why as I hate spoilers in reviews.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

It's as if the narrator didn't bother to read the book before he started narrating, so he seems to have no idea where a sentence is going and therefore flubs many of them. He also reads like he's reading a primer book to children. HOWEVER, this book is so good, that it's worth putting up with this narrator. (I may still buy it in print just to read it with the voice I feel the author wanted it to have)

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES!!
