My favorite part about this title was that it not only excels in helping listeners heal some of their personal emotional wounds so that they can move more freely in the world, but it also maintains a heavy focus on practicing respect for others, even if you don’t feel they deserve it! It’s so amazing that because life is like a big mirror, if you try treating someone with respect who you were in some kind of hostile vibe with before, you can actually bring about a totally different reaction from them. It’s interesting to discover that when we put good stuff out into the world (even when we don’t want to!), we get good stuff back. And it all starts with clearing out toxic behaviors, recognizing them in others, sticking up for ourselves and working on that so important self-esteem, and a lot more that Lulu Nicholson masterfully teaches us without all the jargon.

This book made me take a good look at myself. Now I see that my behavior was causing problems in my relationships. Instead of looking smart and quick-witted, I think I was more annoying than anything else. The plan in the book seems like it will be easy to follow, and it will make me stop and think before I react. If I can learn to be more patient, maybe I'll appear less caustic.. The book made me feel that change is possible if I take small steps every day. I would definitely recommend it to others.

I did not expect how this topic was going to be presented but I almost thought it was going to have an accusatory tone; I am glad to say that is was the opposite. This book makes you approach this need with sensitivity and mindfulness. The 28 day plan its clearly laid out and as you listen to each chapter information related to creating a mindset away from toxicity is presented. Being self aware of ones triggers, the toll that our behavior plays in ourselves and others, and the manner is which we can take care of our mental health are presented well. The PDF accompanying this audio book is very useful; the prompts offered to be applied as mental exercises give you one more way towards positivism.

I didn’t expect to see so much of myself in the examples, especially the defensive reactions and emotional shutdowns. It was tough to hear at times, but I needed it.
