Interesting story

I bought this book on the recommendation of my fourth grade great niece. She had gone to her to school library and checked it out to read and really liked it. It deals a lot with bullying which is a big topic around now. I like the story concept. I liked the interactions among the characters. And I liked the fact that it was through Audible so I could hear it and listen to the voices

narrator emphasizes weird words

Fun story to listen to, but the reader emphasized like every third word and finished sentences with a breathy voice. Irritating!

Gus the main character

I like that Gus the main character who is smaller then his friends and he is trying to find gold and To get Rossi’s motorbike back from Bo.

Exciting, scary. bravery and friendship

This book is mainly for middle grade or young teens, but I enjoyed it a lot. A smallish boy, Gus, is bullied by a bigger kid because he stood up for a girl. The bully makes him do something impossible to get out of being tortured again. But Gus and three other kids brave the dangerous collapsing mine in the desert to do it. They learn resourcefulness, bravery, and true friendship in the process.
Great narrator.
