Many inaccuracies and incomplete translations

Had I not had a basic understanding of Italian and used this book as an actual learning tool, I would have made many mistakes when speaking Italian. For example, the word "dovresti" means you (informal) would have to. Instead, the narrator said this word means you would have, which is very different than you would have to (or must). This is just one of many examples of inaccurate translations. In other cases, the translator used synonyms rather than translating words precisely. If I hadn't already understood the words, I would have learned an incorrect translation. Throughout the entire book, the narrator didn't take the time to explain the tense of verbs. For example, the narrator said "ho" means have. This is an incomplete translation as "ho" means "I have". Similarly, he said "abbiamo" means "have" when abbiamo actually means "we have".

There were some useful translations and this book may be helpful in reinforcing previously learned vocabulary. I would only suggest this book for those who already have an intermediate understanding of the language and who could discern and not be confused by the inaccuracies.

It's a barrage

This was too difficult for me to follow. They dive right into a list of words and go through the examples so quickly that it is too difficult to follow. I gave up after giving it several sessions.

Great option for someone with basic Italian study

Great audio book for someone with basic Italian comprehension. You do not need to be fluent in Italian to use this book, but I would recommend having a basic foundation before diving into this audio book. You're presented with a lot of material fast, and as a vocabulary builder, this is exactly what you want to speak more fluently.

You'll be greeted with both an Italian phrase and an English equivalent.

Edoardo speaks slowly and clearly so that you can understand each key word you're learning. Overall, this is a great audio book that will pair well with a grammar book. Once you learn how to conjugate words properly, you'll be well on your way to speaking with Italian speakers with a vast vocabulary thanks to this book.

For auditory learners of language

The audiobook is structured by the number of the listing, eg “1” or “326” of 2000, then the word is stated. The word is said slowly in a sentence, then the sentence is said again quickly. Then, the English sentence is provided. You will get the most out of this book if you follow the tips in chapter two, particularly trying to write as you listen. This book is not made for passive listening, but it can be a very useful tool for serious learners

excellent practice for intermediate level speakers

this language book is much better than most that you will find. usually, it is just dumb sentences you will never use. the speaker sounds like a natural Italian speaker, not some English guy trying to speak with a forced accent. my only complaint would be to say the sentence in English first, then repeat the Italian. I will recommend this. look forward to more from this author/publisher.

Not for beginners

I thought this would be good to listen to while driving to and from work just to learn a little Italian. It’s more of a refresher course if you haven’t spoke Italian in a while.

Literally all it does is give you one word and says it in a sentence. Very difficult to learn this way. Especially when your driving and can’t pause or rewind the audio.
