Publisher's summary

When the Corporate Wars destroyed civilization, the coastal city of Eureka, California, found itself cut off from rest of the world by dangerous radiation zones that killed anyone trying to cross them.

In the years following the catastrophe, the community stabilized and found ways to meet its needs - and even thrive - despite the constant challenges. However, while the radiation zones which created the Eureka Bubble protected the area from the worst ravages of the apocalypse, they also caused severe resource limitations which have become more acute over time and, eventually, the Bubble is going to burst.

Sheltered from even the few dangers of life in the Bubble by her over-protective brother, Scott, Kelly Ansen grew up with no memory of her parents or the old world. She contented herself with her simple country home, scratching out a quiet and comfortable existence. But when she learns the truth about her life and how she became a refugee in the little haven, she is faced with an uncertain future. Reviled by some of her neighbors, there’s no way for her life to return to normal. With the Bubble facing the end of its isolation, though, she is given a new opportunity. Can she carve out a fitting role for herself in this Fallen World?

Great listen, adventure, suspense, action

Great storyline, good action. Creative. Boyertown delivered as usual. Dawe leaves a bit to be desired. Heavy phrase endings, deep emphasized syllables is unnecessary and shows inexperience. otherwise. good book.

Love this series..

I really enjoyed this. Mostly because of the narration. Angela Dawe is simply outstanding.

Each of these stories has a different MC, in a different part of the States, trying their best to survive. Kelly, her brother Scott and Morgan, who saved them as children, kept most of the outlanders alive, while battling the criminals who escaped when the nukes fell. I was glad when "King David" was killed. He and his men were insane.

A touch of romance between Kelly and Morgan, and the F-bomb was used 9 times.

As for the narration: As I said Angela Dawe was wonderful but Mark Boyett only read the prologue and the epilogue. He was still great, though.

Great story but.....

I don't get it. every other book has Mark Boyett as the narrator. He does a great job of doing all the parts in a book male and female. He brings storys to life . so why would they add another narrator ? If your going to do that warn the customer that he has only a small part or at least get someone with the same performance style and abilities. This is of course just my opinion but buyer beware very little Mark Boyett and a lot of Angela Dawne.

Its alright

I disagree with some reviews complaining in regards to the story not be narrated by Mark Boyett. Mark is an awesome narrator but would you really want to listed to him a fake a female voice for the main character for an entire book? I wouldn't. My only dislike with the narration, is as others have noted, a female voicing a males voice. Angela does a great job of telling the story but I have yet to hear a female narrator pull off a male part. I think the book would have been better if Mark would have read for the male parts. All in all it was a good story. Didn't have the quirky humor you might read in a Christopher Woods installment but it was entertaining just the same

not the best

Worst book yet from this series. Really strayed from previous dialog from books 1 thru 7. Now all of a sudden enhanced person's don't die when shot in the heart or have their necks broken? And the modified mountain lion / tiger cooking for itself? To far out there from original dialog, even for "this fallen world".

Only got to the end due to the outstanding performances by narrators.

bait and switch

you think your going to get mark but it's just the prologue and epilogue the rest is read by the most boring reader they could have found and all her male voices sound like stoned teenager's
