Acerca de esta escucha
Are leaders born, or made? And what's the single most important quality a real leader should possess? Philosophers and management theorists have endlessly debated-and just as endlessly written about-these subjects for centuries. Finally, here's a book that cuts to the chase. In 68 of the most succinct, no-punches-pulled pages you'll ever read, acclaimed author-speaker-coach John Baldoni maintains that "leadership presence" is a form of communication that can be learned, and then provides the hows and the whys of learning it. He starts by defining what genuine leadership presence is, and discusses right and wrong ways to demonstrate leadership taken from real-life examples. Baldoni explains how to communicate your objectives in ways that encourage people to buy into the process-even if it includes tough subjects like layoffs, closures, and terminations. Along the way he adds some provocative comments on the importance of ethical actions in tough times as well as good-including why merely thinking good thoughts and voicing good intentions are never enough.

Historia
To lead is to live dangerously. It's romantic and exciting to think of leadership as all inspiration, decisive action, and rich rewards, but leading requires taking risks that can jeopardize your career and your personal life. It requires putting yourself on the line, disrupting the status quo, and surfacing hidden conflict. And when people resist and push back, there's a strong temptation to play it safe. Those who choose to lead plunge in, take the risks, and sometimes get burned.

Historia
Is your company run by a team with no name? At the top of every organization chart lies a myth - that a Senior Management Team makes a company's critical decisions. The reality is that critical decisions are typically made by the boss and a small group of confidants - a "team with no name" - outside of formal processes. Meanwhile, other members of the management team wonder why they weren't in the room or even consulted ahead of time.

short and to the point
unlike so many other books, this just gets down to the brass tacks of why you are reading the book. quick usable nuggets to reflect on. digestable easily as chapters if preferred.

Great content...so far. Excruciating Delivery.
I willed myself to pull the content from what I was hearing. The reader's style and performance was displeasing to my ears, brain, and sensibilities. I did not complete the book as an audio book; instead, I will read it offline (the old fashioned way). I will have to work very hard to shake the narrator's condescending communication style from my internal "reading voice."
