Publisher's Summary

When 16-year-old poetry blogger Tessa Dickinson is involved in a car accident and loses her eyesight for 100 days, she feels like her whole world has been turned upside-down.

Terrified that her vision might never return, Tessa feels like she has nothing left to be happy about. But when her grandparents place an ad in the local newspaper looking for a typist to help Tessa continue writing and blogging, an unlikely answer knocks at their door: Weston Ludovico, a boy her age with bright eyes, an optimistic smile…and no legs.

Knowing how angry and afraid Tessa is feeling, Weston thinks he can help her. But he has one condition - no one can tell Tessa about his disability. And because she can’t see him, she treats him with contempt: screaming at him to get out of her house and never come back. But for Weston, it’s the most amazing feeling: to be treated like a normal person, not just a sob story. So he comes back. Again and again, and again.

Tessa spurns Weston’s “obnoxious optimism”, convinced that he has no idea what she’s going through. But Weston knows exactly how she feels and reaches into her darkness to show her that there is more than one way to experience the world. As Tessa grows closer to Weston, she finds it harder and harder to imagine life without him - and Weston can’t imagine life without her. But he still hasn’t told her the truth, and when Tessa’s sight returns, he’ll have to make the hardest decision of his life: vanish from Tessa’s world...or overcome his fear of being seen.

100 Days of Sunlight is a poignant and heartfelt novel by author Abbie Emmons. If you like sweet contemporary romance and strong family themes, then you’ll love this touching story of hope, healing, and getting back up when life knocks you down.

great story, needs to be turned into a movie!

I loved this story, it made me cry and laugh. I would love to see this be a huge hit in Hollywood...but they might ruin the beautiful aspects of the book. Great job!

It's Sunlight

As an aspiring author, I happened to find myself following Abbie on YouTube. I've been binge-watching her videos for the last couple weeks and decided she definitely SOUNDS like she knows what she's talking about, but can she actually do it? So, I risked one of my precious credits to find out.

My conclusion: Yes. Yes, she can.

Coming from an avid fantasy reader (note that this is *not* a fantasy) I found myself glued to the "pages." The story is powerful and the characters feel real. Even if it's not your usual genre, it's worth reading.

There were a few rare moments of cringe where the dialogue could have been smoothed out a bit more, but otherwise I have nothing negative to say.

Also, very few authors can pull off doing their own narration, but her voices are distinct, fit the roles well, and she's got a great range of emotion.

Excellent job, Abbie. Your book is sunlight.

Surprisingly good!

I honestly was surprised that this book hooked me and keep me reading. The genre isn't one I spend a great deal of time reading as a whole. However the author kept the story interesting all the way through.

Hoping to see more from this author in the future!

great story

this is a very beautiful story. It reminds me of how my husband helps me out when I can't see outdoors and sometimes indoors. I am visually impaired. I like how respectful he is amd how thoughtful. I have experienced some of the feelings Tessa did myself. You did a great job Abbie.

Excellent. Cant wait to 'see' what you cook up nxt

Kept me hooked from inciting incident all the way to crescendo. ;) Keep writing. You're brilliant. And this coming from a fantasy/sci-fi fan who really struggles with anything lovey dovey. Especially -gasp- teenage lovely dovey.

Also, I loved your narration and the small touches of music and sound effects. Really made the book come alive! Well done!

Perfect!

Though this genre isn't one of my favourites, there's something about this book that gripped me right from the start. Story is great and Abbie's narration skills are impressive. One of the best audiobooks I've heard this year so far.

Where do I even start!

This book… this book was everything. I’ve laughed, and I’ve cried. I’ve fallen in love with these characters. This story has a clear message, and it is to keep going…no matter what. The romance had me biting my nails (and that’s something I never do), and hooked on how things will work out for Tessa and Weston. I loved it! 100/10. Definitely recommend.

Great book

The story was very engaging and the performance was amazing. I really enjoyed the ukulele solo there:)
There was just a bit too much language for me hence the four stars, great story though.

That angry Poem

I loved this book am just mad it had to end so soon. One of the best books I have ever listened to. My favourite part was where Tessa made that angry poem about Weston.

Lovely story

I do love a good romance. I'm a fan of Abbie's YouTube channel where she gives writing advice, so when she mentioned she'd published a book I obviously couldn't wait to listen to it and I'm super impressed.
As a side note I'm usually unsure about the writer narrating there own work but actually it suited the story perfectly. Well done!

A story that pulls a smile over your face.

Normally having multiple point of views can be frustrating or confusing but Abbie Emmons not only delivers the story confidently when narrating but also proves that alternative perspectives can better a story and fixate the reader on the magic she has crafted. This book is a great read or listen especially for those in need of an emotional 'pick me up'.

A breath of fresh air that was much needed.

I came across the book by following Abbie as I'm trying write. Although I originally was wanting to write fantasy and still do.. But I was diagnosed with LHON (Lebers) which has had a huge impact on my vision and subsequently my life on the last 3 years. So, the book kinda hit a sensitive nerve with me. I'd like to thank Abbie for the book.. The narration.. And the help she provides.

Wow!

There aren't words for how much this book meant to me. Thanks Abbie, for writing and sharing this! I can't wait for more of your books.

As for the 'review' part of this...

The characters were really well developed. I fell in love with the MCs very quickly, and was cheering from them right from the start. Weston's backstory was so heart-breaking, and I loved the use of well-timed flashbacks to kind of tell his backstory at the same time as Tessa's present. Their relationship made their individual characters even more enjoyable. I loved that the book wasn't a romance, as such, it was about something deeper; the romance was a sweet sideplot, almost. I also loved that the romance part was 'clean' (not all romances need to be clean, but I enjoy it when I find it).

As for the theme! It was easily the best part of the book. I won't even try to sum up the theme, I'll leave it to you to read the book. You won't be disappointed.

Now, for the general stuff. The pacing was great. It was a slower paced book, but I was always interested in what was going on, and the pacing worked perfectly for the story being told. The writing was pleasant to read, and had a great flow. The voices of the characters were on point. All round, a great book.

Outstanding listening experience

What can I say when I haven’t been this blown away by a story in years? The novel is excellent, Emmons’ reading of it exquisite. Weston’s voice is on point, you really can hear his essence in the way he talks. I am an adult and I haven’t been this hooked by a YA novel in years. And I’ve been looking for a while! I’ve wanted to experience the feeling you get from a good YA story for ages, but honestly no book has done it better than this one for me. If you are debating whether to buy this book, I’m telling you: you won’t regret it. I am blown away - Abbie Emmons, don’t ever stop writing, the world needs you.
