inaudible narration

I am trying to listen to Little Women. I can't hear it even with the volume turned to maximum levels. This is the second recordibg in a row that has been this way. it destroys the story!

Happy to have had a go at reading this but not worth the problems.

However, it did not download properly and really messed up my Audible app. Now I’m faced with trying to get it off my phone 😱

P.S.: could have done without the philosophy piece. Also overall, in many of the stories, there were many mispronunciations. Many!

It's always a delight to hear these old stories again. They don't write tales like these anymore.

Wow!

I can’t believe some of the negative reviews I saw. It was nearly free for amazing literature. I will admit I had to fast forward through the Odyssey because the narrator droned so but every thing else was good to excellent. I really didn’t care for the Father Brown stories so much but that is just personal taste. A few books here that I likely would have never selected on my own but thoroughly enjoyed.
For $0.66. Deal of the century!

Great collection of great writing! SO worthwhile! I learned so much and really now better understand aspects of history and life in the past!

Needs labels!

Though I’m still early on (just finished Little Women) this looks to be a fantastic collection.

Problem is there are no chapter labels and so with 120something hours and hundreds of chapters it is very easy to get lost. I recommend a pencil and pad to help keep track, especially if you are one such as I who have a tendency to fall asleep while listening.

The readers are bleh.

I have rarely ever bought an audio book #1. #2 I buy for the reader's inflection and tone, and ability to bring life to the book. If I could get my credit back, I would. I've tried to listen to the first 5 stories and they are awful listens.

so much entertainment for so little cash

each of these books is worth full price and they are bundled for such a small price. completely worth it!

the only thing I could ask is putting the titles into the proper slots. I did it myself so that I could skip ahead in the books or skip back to the beginning of that book. the lack of a real transition from one to the next allowed me to accidently miss the transition while doing other things.

Many hours, sloppy presentation.

It certainly was long. Good value for
Filling time with mostly pretty decent books. The performances were passable. It could’ve been better edited, cutting the many minor flubs. The formatting was very rough with endings so abrupt I wasn’t sure they actually read the last page.

It was worth it just for Huckleberry Finn plus decent padding for a hundred hours by a lot of rather boring and implausible classics. It was amazing seeing the dumb and violent ways of human thinking in centuries past.

I’m glad I listened to all these glimpses into the best novels from a less skillful age of writing.
