そんな伯母の元で育った私は特別大切に育てられました。幼少期の記憶のほとんどに伯母との思い出があり、周りの人にも愛されてすくすくと育ちます。しかし伯母に大切に育てられた結果、ずっと家にいたため友達も勉強もできず困ってしまいます。そこで伯母の計画によってお国さんという女の子と友達になります。お国さんは私と同じで内気で病弱。伯母の力も借りて仲良くなりました。ある日、初めての友達であるお国さんは一家で引っ越してしまい会えなくなります。その後私は学校に通うようになります。病弱の私は周りに気を使われていることも知らずに、自分ができる人間だと思い込むようになりました。
ある日近所に引っ越して来たお恵ちゃんに衝撃の一言を言われてしまいます。周りのみんなに気を使われていたことを知った私は変わることを決意。伯母さんや姉に勉強を教えてもらい、ひ弱だった体も健康的に力強くなっていきます。そして徐々に周りとの関係性が変わり始めます。
