Since the introduction of dietary guidelines calling for reduced fat intake in the 1970s, a strange phenomenon has occurred: Americans have steadily, inexorably become heavier, less healthy, and more prone to diabetes than ever before. After putting more than two thousand of his at-risk patients on a wheat-free regimen and seeing extraordinary results, cardiologist William Davis has come to the disturbing conclusion that it is not fat, not sugar, not our sedentary lifestyle that is causing America’s obesity epidemic—it is wheat.

Who knows what ever grabs me.

History has all but forgotten.... In the spring of 1708, an invading Jacobite fleet of French and Scottish soldiers nearly succeeded in landing the exiled James Stewart in Scotland to reclaim his crown. Now, Carrie McClelland hopes to turn that story into her next best-selling novel. Settling herself in the shadow of Slains Castle, she creates a heroine named for one of her own ancestors and starts to write. But then she discovers her novel is more fact than fiction....

It was whispered all through London society that he was a murderer, that he'd spent his youth in an asylum and was not to be trusted - especially with a lady. Any woman caught in his presence was immediately ruined. Yet Beth found herself inexorably drawn to the Scottish lord whose hint of a brogue wrapped around her like silk and whose touch could draw her into a world of ecstasy.

What disappointed you about The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie?

Gratuitous, unrealistic, for the time period, explicit sex right off the bat. No time to develop characters to even care about them. I turned it off as soon as this book proved it's direction.

Would you ever listen to anything by Jennifer Ashley again?

Not without a sexual content rating.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Angela Dawe?

Didn't give the listen time to tell.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disgust and disappointment. Do we really need this stuff to feel good about ourselves?

Any additional comments?

I wish that audible had a sexual content rating that protected it"s listeners.

"Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness… He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily…Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other’s most private wounds…and desires."

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Someone who needs pornographic listening. This book had little plot and character development just a lot of gratuitous, explicit sex... brain garbage. I fast forwarded through 80 percent of this just to see if it ever gave me some character to care about.

What do you think your next listen will be?

A book from a credible author who writes stories that entertain and inspire and do no harm.

Would you be willing to try another one of Jill Redfield’s performances?

Yes she was a good reader. I pity what she was asked to read.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The effort however misguided

Any additional comments?

I wish that audible would rate the books that they offer with an explicit rating to protect it's buyers.
