It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

The is one of the best books I've read. I couldn't put it down! Very clever, suspenseful and whitty. The book is pretty vulgar and shocking at times. Although the book is dark it made me laugh too. I would recommend it for sure! I liked it so much I picked up her next book, " Dark Places " almost immediately after finishing this one!

Great book if you like mystery/thrillers! Audible should clean up the audio file. You can hear the narrarator clearing his throat and shuffling papers. It's a bit distracting.

This plot was so confusing I never did really figure out what was going on. I just couldn't get into it. I only finished half of it! I think this is the first time I haven't finished a book! To be fair, I listen before bed, so I probably was not at my peak. I guess if you want a challenge give it a go!

In this, their first adventure, Chet and Bernie investigate the disappearance of Madison, a teenage girl who may or may not have been kidnapped, but who has definitely gotten mixed up with some very unsavory characters.

I have read the whole series and loved them all! I am a dog lover and really enjoy the book being told from Chet the dogs point of view! All the books in the series are easy reads. The plot and characters keep you interested and make you laugh ! If your're looking for a sophisticated and challenging read this is not the book or series for you. I really loved this series and can't wait for the next one to come out! The narrarator does a great job with all the characters- especially Chet!

Jack Taylor, traumatised, bitter and hurting from his last case, has resolved to give up the finding business. However, he owes the local hard man a debt of honour and it appears easy enough: find “the Angel of the Magdalen” – a woman who helped the unfortunates incarcerated in the infamous laundry. He is also hired by a whizz kid to prove that his father’s death was no accident. Jack treats both cases as relatively simple affairs.

This book wasn't as good as I had hoped. I really like reading mystery novels set in forgien country's because I like to get a flavor for the area and learn something about its people, history, and landscape. This book didn't do a good job of painting Ireland and the mystery wasn't all that captivating. Not a bad listen but this is the first in the series and I'm in no hurry to pick up the next.

No, but I never read books twice or watch movies twice!

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the history and architecture and Roman setting. The narrarator was great at setting the mood. So suspenseful I found it hard to put down!
