Woodward draws from hundreds of hours of interviews with firsthand sources, meeting notes, personal diaries, files, and documents. The focus is on the explosive debates and the decision-making in the Oval Office, the Situation Room, Air Force One, and the White House residence.

A hilarious and emotional personal account of the life, times, mistakes, and crippling codependence of comedian, producer, director, actress, and writer Whitney Cummings. Full of intellect, pathos, and profundity, I'm Fine...and Other Lies is, in Whitney's words, her first book, which means her last date. With her signature incendiary edge and self-deprecation, Whitney comes clean about what has shaped her into the trailblazing comic that she is today.

Death is not for the faint of heart, and sometimes the best way to cope is through humor. No one knows this better than comedian Laurie Kilmartin. She made headlines by live-tweeting her father's time in hospice and her grieving process after he passed and channeled her experience into a comedy special, 45 Jokes About My Dead Dad. Dead People Suck is her hilarious guide to surviving (sometimes) death, dying, and grief without losing your mind.

The pace is quick, the story is good for an introduction, and the main character is engaging. It’s not frightening, per se, but it’s a fun ride.

I’ll be looking forward to reading more from Janine Pestel and about Father Gunter, Demon Hunter.

Todd Keisling’s The Final Reconciliation is a modern tale in the HP Lovecraft universe. The modern rock references are spot-on, the characters are believable, and the pace is perfect.

I want to visit Todd Keisling’s imaginative world again but the length of this particular story is about right.

Joe Hempel delivers a fantastic performance. He’s one of my new favorite narrators.

This is an A+

The cover art is a bit misleading.

If you don’t expect to be particularly thrilled or chilled you’ll enjoy these four short stories by Janine Restel. Any of them would fit into the original Twilight Zone series nicely.

The first two stories: “Infected,” and “Harry,” have a definite Richard Matheson feel to them. “The Servants,” has more of a Ray Bradbury vibe.

My favorite of the four is the final one, “The Visit,” which reminded me of early Stephen King. It’s a bit sentimental but in a good way.

Based on this selection I’m interested in reading more from Janine Pestel.

The narrator, Lucie Starling, did a good job with the different characters. I agree with other reviewers that the overall audio production was less professional and more semi-pro, which is to be expected with self-published works.

Overall I’d give the collection a B-.

The man couldn't help himself. His captor was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Her powerful eyes held his attention and made him forget that she had him confined in a basement; his hands and feet bound with duct tape. After getting past the terror and discomfort, he reasoned that there was nothing to worry about. He would be missed. He had loved ones who would call the police. All he had to do was wait. Letting this woman tell him a story was as good a stall as any.

If you like pulp horror, revenge, and some body-modification horror, this is for you.

Drop Dead Gorgeous takes a fairly classic horror plot and spices it up into not your average horror story. I enjoyed it as a change of pace from most of the audio horror novellas.

One issue I had was the length. I didn’t feel particular affection for any of the characters so I found the third quarter was a bit of a slog. If I cared about a character I wouldn’t have minded the extra length.

That said I’d like to hear another from Donald Allen Kirch, I like his style.

This is a good collection of stories and I enjoyed it quite a lot. I thought that perhaps since I had not read the other Joe DeRouen stories in this universe that I'd be a little lost but that was not the case. It has an early Stephen King feel to it.

The narrator was good, his friendly voice lulled my right in. The editing was a little tight - it would have benefited from longer pauses between paragraphs and sections.

All in all I recommend it without reservation.
