First, I listen to A LOT of books and RARELY write a bad review. Like less than a handful. But this dumb-A stereotype of women was so infuriating, I'm writing one now.
I was really looking forward to listening to this. While the production & narration was splendid, the story had me throwing stuff out of frustration. We had a female protagonist CONTINUALLY making stupid decisions w/no frontal-lobe activity, then acting like a victim of circumstances and finally falling prey to a predictable gas-lighting relationship. I felt I was listening to a 1940's crime thriller w/2D stereotype characters. Really? This had SO MUCH potential. But I guess we have yet ONE more book about a woman who "loves a man so much" she tells herself again and again she doesn't want to know any other reality other than the charming prince.

12 Strong is the dramatic account of a small band of Special Forces soldiers who secretly entered Afghanistan following 9/11 and rode to war on horses against the Taliban. Outnumbered 40 to one, they pursued the enemy army across the mountainous Afghanistan terrain and, after a series of intense battles, captured the city of Mazar-i-Sharif. The bone-weary American soldiers were welcomed as liberators as they rode into the city. Then the action took a wholly unexpected turn.

At once wildly original and stuffed with irresistible nostalgia, Ready Player One is a spectacularly genre-busting, ambitious, and charming debut—part quest novel, part love story, and part virtual space opera set in a universe where spell-slinging mages battle giant Japanese robots, entire planets are inspired by Blade Runner, and flying DeLoreans achieve light speed.

Any additional comments?

I have fallen in LOVE with this series after reading THE DOLL MAKER. The author and the narrator are perfect together!
However, you need to have a little flexibility when it comes to the "following intuition" in the series. I have experienced my own premonitions so I could be flexible with adding this subject to detective work.
...But I wasn't THAT flexible with how it plays out at the end of this book. He could have used some common sense to help the detectives find the perp at the end much more than he did.
..hopefully the next one will be better.

All Gabriel Bradley wanted was solitude. But when a very pregnant - and very beautiful - woman ended up at his remote cabin during a blizzard, desperate, alone, and on the run, the modern-day Scrooge couldn't turn her away. For Laura brought him the gifts of passion, hope, and life - he needed only the courage to reach for it.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I LOVE Nora Roberts but this must have been an early book. The characters felt very 2 dimensional. And I wanted to shake the "heroine's" neck. She went from one emotionally fragile man who went from zero to 10 on the anger scale to another...just in different ways.

And seriously Nora, having a damsel in distress be swooshed up and married by a stranger in order to save her and her baby?? Again...so disappointing.

Seabiscuit was one of the most electrifying and popular attractions in sports history and the single biggest newsmaker in the world in 1938, receiving more coverage than FDR, Hitler, or Mussolini. But his success was a surprise to the racing establishment, which had written off the crooked-legged racehorse with the sad tail.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared....
