The Poisonwood Bible
- By: Barbara Kingsolver
- Narrated by: Dean Robertson
- Length: 15 hrs and 33 mins
The Poisonwood Bible is a story told by the wife and four daughters of Nathan Price, a fierce evangelical Baptist who takes his family and mission to the Belgian Congo in 1959. They carry with them all they believe they will need from home, but soon find that all of it - from garden seeds to Scripture - is calamitously transformed on African soil.

This Book is MAGIC
Where does The Poisonwood Bible rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Hands down best book I have listened to so far in my audible adventure.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Poisonwood Bible?
I don't want to say. I went into this book not knowing anything about it and found it so much more enjoyable than anticipating something that someone else shared with me.
Which scene was your favorite?
A few come to mind but I'm not sharing. Listen for yourself.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It was so good that I kept rewinding the chapters to listen to it over again.
Any additional comments?
This is my new favorite book.
- A Funny Book About Horrible Things
- By: Jenny Lawson
- Narrated by: Jenny Lawson
- Length: 8 hrs and 20 mins
Audie Award, Humor, 2016. In Furiously Happy, number-one New York Times best-selling author Jenny Lawson explores her lifelong battle with mental illness. A hysterical, ridiculous book about crippling depression and anxiety? That sounds like a terrible idea. But terrible ideas are what Jenny does best.

I Returned It
I listened to the first couple hours and I couldn't take it anymore. Her rants are so distracting and go completely off topic. I understand that this is how her brain works but I couldn't get past the stories and obnoxious narration.
I'm glad I gave it a chance but this book just isn't for me.
