I hadn’t read all of the books and didn’t realize this wasn’t a stand alone book until I was already into the first book and it was too late to turn around.
I love all the narrators and the way the stories ended. Now, I need to go back and read the books.

Max saves Jules one night when she's working in a convenience store. Then he proceeds to turn her life and the those of her niece and two nephews' lives upside down.
Sawyer Bennett has turned this hockey series into lessons about struggles of every day people. Jules is raising children as a single parent and working multiple jobs to make ends meet..
She has her share of strife and her pride doesn't allow her to accept hand outs from millionaire hockey players, no matter how hot they are in bed.
Max recognizes all of the good in Jules and can deal with her raising three young children. Most men would be turned off. He also recognizes her truly artistic talent.
Cris Dukeheart does a great job narrating the voice of Jules. I love Graham Halstead's narration of Max. When he does Jules' voice he adds a slight southern accent that's really believable.

Sawyer Bennett does it again with a book that takes Zack's wrecked life and gives it a new purpose after Kate comes along.
Zack loses his longtime girlfriend, Gina, in a horrific car accident. With his hockey career, he needs someone to take care of his son while he's on the road and working. Kate fits that job perfectly. She has an engaging personality, but hides herself underneath baggy clothes and big glasses.
Zack gets a look at the real Kate one night and the sparks start flying. He tries to keep her out of his head, but she's the only woman in months who has reawakened his senses. Kate can't say no to the handsome, well built hockey player.
It gets complicated along the way because Zack set the boundaries to be just sex and nothing else. Of course, he sends Kate mixed signals and blurs the lines.
Zack's struggles with guilt and grief are prominently featured. He wants his son to remember his mother, but he has to move out of the house that reminded him of her everywhere he turned.
The storyline plays out well. The narration is great. Kate's southern accent is done to perfection.

Sawyer Bennett wrote a wonderful book that was not just about the sport of hockey, but of those whose lives are touched by addiction.
Sutton is a young woman who works at a crisis center. Her own father is a heroin addict and her early childhood was disrupted because of his abuse.
Alex is a pro hockey star on the ice, but his life has been impacted by the abuse he received at the hands of his alcoholic father.
Circumstances put them together to help at risk youth. They ended up getting into a relationship that has its rocky times, but both come away as winners.
There are some sizzling sex scenes too.
Both Graham Halstead and Cris Dukeheart are great narrators.

Kyle leaves his famous rock star brother's tour to do a reality show. Reality crashes in when he has to be himself.
He meets Kenzie, who falls in love with him after they spend weeks together on an island with other strangers. The two of them form a special bond that last through some tough times they will face.
When they are finally back in each other's arms, Kenzie knows it's love, but Kyle still needs a little more persuasion. In the end, he comes around and knows how perfect she is for him. She's all he can think of when Jake is out of danger.
Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber are excellent narrators.

The love story of Casey and Jake had what every great book has laughter and tears. It's what builds every relationship and makes it stronger.
I was so impressed with a rock star who broke the mold and wasn't into drugs or alcohol. It was refreshing that he fell for a hometown girl with a great sense of humor and some morals.
Andi Arndt did an exceptional job narrating the role of Casey and Joe Arden did a good job telling the haunting tale of Jake.
I can't wait to read the sequels.

My measure of a good book is if it makes you laugh and cry. The Baller made me do both.
It dealt with several issues that our society deals with on a daily basis too. From the elderly not having "family" to take care of them, to Alzheimer's disease, to drug abuse among teens and middle aged women, to the homeless shelters and women working in the male dominated field of American football and even having an advance directive in your will.
You probably just thought it was about the hot sex. There's some of that as well.
Vi Keeland is an excellent writer. Both narrators did outstanding jobs as they read the complex characters that make up this book.
I only got antsy when reading Willow's parts. I wanted Brody to end up with Delilah.

This story in the Pucked Hockey series is the deepest. I feel like Poppy comes in on a white horse to save Lance from a lot of things in his life.
Lance has the notorious reputation of being the biggest playboy on the team. This book shows you there's so much more to him than the"puck bunnies" talk. From childhood trauma to Natasha's mind games, Lance has been through the worst stuff anyone could go through in a lifetime.
He and Poppy have to overcome a lot to see if they can be together in the future.

The characters are witty as with almost all of Blakely's heros & heroines. There are some funny lines that could be dubbed as keepers.
Sebastian York does an amazing job narrating the book and bringing it to life.
