Did you know that most of our dinosaur fossils were discovered because two grown men absolutely hated each other? It’s true! Rivals! Frenemies Who Changed the World is a riotous audio exclusive, like if Monty Python taught your history class. Each volume of four 30-minute histories will dig into the petty name-calling and grumbling grudges that led to many of the world’s greatest advancements, all delivered with a cheeky sense of humor. Choose sides: Cope or Marsh, the jerks who discovered so many dinosaurs; Hamilton or Burr, whose rivalry fueled American politics; and many more....

While there are plenty of factual accounts in this book, I was utterly dissatisfied with the childish and parochial use of irrelavant and unnecessary "sound" effects, be they words, noises or in the case in this book, the explosions! In my opinion someone wanted to pay friends as audio talent so found a way to insert those folks in a story(s) that would have been better without them.

I rarely rate a 5 star rating for anything. I ALWAYS feel there is room for improvement in any endeavor... Yet, this book has me freely giving a full 5 stars!!!!!
Be sure and listen to the factoids at the end if this book and if curious, do some research! It's OBVIOUS to me the author did! I was a 3 or 4 star kind of skeptic until the closing of my internet search suggested by the author!
The premise of this book is much like several others I've read, yet I've already purchased the next book in the series.

A humble but disillusioned public servant uses his brilliant mind and enormous physical attributes in an attempt to save the life of the U S. President and thereby, the entire free world...

The narrator does a fantastic job of switching between the necessary accents and the genders of the characters too! His intonation puts you in the room... or on the"climb" with him!

But this book!

This book feels like it was written by someone that has an intimate relationship with me. I'm aware that some of the major details are no where near the same, but the intricacies could have been my life story! I believe I've found a new FAVORITE Author!

Narrator Sophie Amoss made this book not just intimate, but personal!!! Ms. Amoss has the ability through her phrasing and intonation to carry you directly to this small town!!!

As soon as I hit submit on this rating, I'm immedately searching for another book by this pair!!!

Published in 1953, this book is older than I am, but it's AMAZING how "Current Events" this book is! If you haven't read it, I recommend you do.

But be patient! This book starts slowly and while the Audio book is only 5.1 hours, you will (if like me) think... what in the world is going on! As you get deeper you'll start to make sense of it. And also if you're like me, when this book ends, you'll be wondering if this could be a future... I say "a" future because hopefully there are many other options!!!
