What I liked best about this story was the performances. Whether it was Joe or Maxine doing the narration during the dialogue parts it seemed like there were two different people talking instead of just one of them. I also enjoyed the love story. I think it could have been at least an hour shorter. The kid was sweet and again both narrators did well with the child's voice. I agree with others who said there was a lot of cursing but I didn't mind it and I'm unsure if I would have thought much of it if not pointed out.

Zane Phillips mistook me for his dog walker. It shouldn’t surprise me that the man with a suit more expensive than my rent would assume that I was there to serve him. The positive? I put him in his place. The negative? I missed my job interview because of it. Now I find out he’s a rich Australian entrepreneur, and he wants to make up for tanking my interview. Yes, he’s impossibly hot - but he’s also an arrogant jackass - so...no thanks. But after a little white lie I tell spirals out of control, I’m somehow offered the chance to play Zane’s girlfriend to help promote his new dating website....

Picture this - I’m ready to win back the love of my life, and I’m going big this time. We’re talking boom box, sing her name in the rain, let the whole damn neighborhood know I'm good and ready this time around. After all, if you're going to grand gesture the ever-loving hell out of a second chance, you need to pull out all the stops. There’s only one little problem. My college girlfriend isn't the one who shows up when I play my "I'll do anything to win you back" tune. The woman who flings open the second-floor window tells me my ex doesn’t live here anymore.

Parentless and friendless, she now finds herself in the care of her mother's sister, a fearful stranger who has been dragged back to the place she deliberately ran from - a place to which she vowed she'd never return.

I was not surprised by the ending but still disappointed. You get through it and thinking back you ask well that wasn't an effective use of my time. I agree, too many characters to keep track of. I had the audiobook with different voices for different characters. That helped a lot when I first started the book but with a few days break in between I was lost with who was who. I made a list of the names and characters and that helped. I'd recommend doing that if you purchase this book. However, I don't think I'd recommend this one with so many other better options out there. But the narrators were very good.

Libby St. Clair believes in fate - so much so, she's willing to pin everything on a curse a fortune-teller placed on her and her two best friends when they were kids. But Libby's attempt to quick-start the curse by proposing to her wrong-for-her boyfriend ends in a wild dash from the altar.

I enjoyed the story. My favorite annoying character was Nicole (the narrator's voice was perfect). The best character was the grandmother. As someone who loves and misses her grandmother, it was refreshing to listen to a story where the grandmother played such a prominent role. She was hilarious. Least favorite was Blair.
