To a trio of muggers, Red looks like just another suburban dad. But when they demand his wallet at knifepoint, something snaps. In the blink of an eye, two muggers are dead, the third severely injured, and Red doesn't remember a thing. Once an elite member of the Det, a secret forces outfit whose existence is beyond classified, Red thought his active service was over. But his memory is coming back - and a lethal killing machine is returning to duty.

Wish I had more hands because two thumbs down just isn't enough. Story lacked development and the reader was monotone. The book could be better with a reader who gave an but of life to it. Terrible overall!!!

When I started this book I was very excited to start a new crime/thriller series. I am a big fan of DeMilles John Corey books.

Not sure if it was the reader but this book was not very drawing. Very dull and not as well written as other crime/thrillers. Made me think twice about following the series.

From the Audie-nominated narrator of The Martian. In eleven years' time, a million members of an alien race will arrive at Earth. Years before they enter orbit, their approach will be announced by the flare of a thousand flames in the sky, their ships' huge engines burning hard to slow them from the vast speeds needed to cross interstellar space. These foreboding lights will shine in our night sky like new stars, getting ever brighter until they outshine even the sun, casting ominous shadows and banishing the night until they suddenly blink out.
