Mackenzie Cooper took her eyes off the road for just a moment, but the resulting collision was enough to rob her not only of her beloved daughter but ultimately of her marriage, family, and friends - and thanks to the nonstop media coverage, even her privacy. Now, she lives in Vermont under the name Maggie Reid. Her only goal is to stay under the radar and make it through her remaining probation. But she isn’t the only one in this peaceful town with secrets.

Love almost all of Barbara Delinsky's books but this one dragged a bit and the narration wasn't the best. Kept hoping it would pick up but it didn't do it for me.

The story and the characters were very good and relatable but the narrator made me skip a few chapters to get to the end. I didn’t care for the narration of the book.

It wasn't the way this kind of story was supposed to go...insta-love isn't supposed to turn into insta-hate. But that's exactly what happened when the dreamboat I met in a bar turned out to be a lying, cheating scumbag looking for nothing but a little side action. And he has the nerve to call me a liar and a "sociopath"? Asshole. And now, three months later, it turns out my boss is marrying his sister in Hawaii and I've got to play nice with him for an entire freaking week.

I usually stay away from authors who narrate their own books but I have to give this author a big high 5 for keeping the story entertaining. Both narrators were excellent. Story line corny but a fun listen.

What made the experience of listening to The Theory of Second Best the most enjoyable?

I enjoyed Cake immensely so I had high hopes for the 2nd one. The story started a bit slow. Good narration (can't go wrong with Andy Arndt) though. Overall I thought the audio was good, there were some funny parts, great love story and since everyone has watched the show Survivor at least once, I knew what to expect.

What did you like best about this story?

The quick funny comebacks between Kenzie and Kyle.

What does Zachary Webber and Andi Arndt bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

They are great narrators and they gave the characters life.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me chuckle in some parts.

Jason Thorn...my brother's childhood friend. Oh, how stupidly in love with that boy I was. He was the first boy who made me blush, my first official crush. Sounds beautiful so far, right? That excitement that bubbles up inside you, those famous butterflies you feel for the very first time - he was the reason for them all. But you get to live in that fairy tale world only until they crush your hopes and dreams and then stomp on your heart for good measure. And boy did he crush my little heart into pieces.
