This is a great starting book for anyone interested in living a healthy life. Not so much new material for those who already read a few books on modern nutritional approaches to staying or becoming healthy, but if you haven't read anything I this topic or not much than this is an excellent starter that will provide a super solid foundation and enough additional material to get you thinking. After this then read How Not To Die.

Good overall overview. I fasted a few times before (extended time period) and learned a few new things and it got me motivated again to integrate an annual spring time fasting into my live. A bit too dogmatic at times and too much of this is the answer to everything. I will do another 7 day fast soon and see if things match.

If there is one book one should read about nutrition it's this one. This book has all the current science applied on how to avoid, halt, and remedy common diseases and achieve optimum health with nutrition as much as possible. You will learn that ancient food and nutrition wisdom and folk remedies and grandmas guidance was mostly right, but now learn why and how to get the most out of it. Read by the author himself the audiobook is very engaging, mentally stimulating, and entertaining. The book is a treasure trove of healthy eating and packed with an insane amount of tips and tricks on how to apply it. I just finished the 17h audio and will restart and enjoy it again. Glad I bought it, it will literally fuel me for life. Growing up in Germany I was raised on meat and dairy and cold cut. The last 3 years I felt a need to transition. Now many issues simply make perfect sense. Every other book is extra, this will be the classic foundation. This should be mandatory reading in schools. Thank you, Dr. Greger, thank you!
