South Carolina secedes from the Union in 1861, but the sleepy city of San Francisco cares more about its war on rats. Bummer, a stray dog, has earned fame for his many rat kills. When one night he jumps in to save another stray (Lazarus) from the attack of a vicious dog, the new pair catch the attention of two rival reporters: Albert Evans with the Alta California, and Frank Gross with the Bulletin. This historical comedy traces the personal and professional competition that drove these two newsmen to serve as the personal biographers of two stray dogs, and how these animals captured the hearts of a city with their loyalty and kindness.

Based on a true story of two stray dogs who roamed San Francisco in the 1860's and became famous, Lewis tells this worthy tale in tongue-in-cheek fashion. The story is cleverly written with subtle humor and grand adventures. The book should be called, "Bummer and Lazarus: A True Comedy and Adventure." I loved the characters, their voices, and the soundtrack.

The tranquillity of a cruise along the Nile was shattered by the discovery that Linnet Ridgeway had been shot through the head. She was young, stylish, and beautiful. A girl who had everything ... until she lost her life. Hercule Poirot recalled an earlier outburst by a fellow passenger: 'I'd like to put my dear little pistol against her head and just press the trigger." Yet in this exotic setting, nothing was ever quite what it seemed.

A brutally honest testimony humbly told by Michael Franzese. He was far from perfect, and yet God had a wonderful plan for his life. What an amazing story! What an amazing God!

"Be holy, for I am holy," commands God to His people. But holiness is something that is often missed in the Christian's daily life. According to Jerry Bridges, that's because we're not exactly sure what our part in holiness is. In The Pursuit of Holiness, he helps us see clearly just what we should rely on God to do-and what we should accept responsibility for ourselves.

This is a book that all Christians should have in their library. It is a very practical guide for what it means to follow Christ. I have listened to the entire recording 3x this week, and it has been such an encouragement to my walk.
