Clare is definitely a great story teller / writer. She will place you in the center of a story and your mind will fly for sure. However, this book has two things I didn't love or maybe love to hate, whatever. First sexuality, this book is supposed to be for kids. She goes into gay, lesbian, trios, among other stuff. Second, part of her inspiration was the news today. If you don't read the headlines, it won't matter. If you do, like I do, there are topics like gay rights or the wall, just to mention a few and keep this short. When I read a book, I am expecting my mind to forget the real world and just go to this new location of new and exiting stories. This was not it for a while then it picks up the story and ends in a good way. The good thing is the book, builds up to a good conclusion.

There's something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori. Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price's attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He's the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.

Welcome to Derry, Maine. It's a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real. They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But the promise they made 28 years ago calls them to reunite in the same place where, as teenagers, they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city's children.

Stephen King is definitely a good author. However, it takes too long to get to know the characters. He builds too much into the intro of the story to finally engage in a little piece of the main story. You have to know something about the novel to listen to it. The story has it's moments, but I can actually say in many occasions that I wanted to put this book down and never read it again. I just feel the introduction of this book is now eight chapters long and I have not seen the monster yet.

It takes a while to pick up the story. But is worth the wait. It has a good plot and the author got me, at the end with 'why lie'. Very good hook for the next book.
