this series is my favorite of Sherrilyns, tho the Dark Hunter Series is definitely stepping on its heels, fight to trip it like a bratty lil brother! Sherrilyn' s ability to show you the best and worst sides of life; show us that our views can be so misconceived, has always spoken to me.. She transports you into other worlds, her anti hero/heroines make you desire to be part of their brotherhood/sisterhood..

Holter Graham is, as well one of my favorite Narrators even when speaking as a women he delivers a believable performance, one that transcends you through each character with ease ..

So if you are looking for great science fiction with your romance then don't hesitate to read this series from the beginning! I'm working my way through for my 6th time since the first release of Nyks book Born of FIRE

On the run, Braxton flees to the anti-extradition state of Missouri on his Harley, but before he crosses the border, he is felled by an assassin's bullet - and an unsuspecting blonde.

Reaver is an angel with a past, a record, and a less-than-heavenly attitude. Powerful enough to fight alongside the fiercest battle angels - and crazy enough to risk his wings on a one-way mission to hell - he's agreed to go where no angel has ever gone before…to steal the most seductive and dangerous prize of Satan himself….

narrator is my only problem with this series of audible books, she spins a very bratty nasal voice for several of the Males that should be Strong Alpha males but in turn sound like silly surfer geeks on steroids!. She has the ability to make the male characters sound throaty and masculine, so i am unsure why she chose the seminis(sp) demon brothers to sound so annoying but other than that this is a fanastic listen .. just what you expect from Larissa! Agonizing torture filled with hot lustfilled sex and gore!!

What made the experience of listening to Swallowing Darkness the most enjoyable?

A narrator can ruin a great story for me.. I am a huge fan of Laurell's and have purchased all the audio books for the Anita Blake series but have been a bit leary of doing so with Meredith Gentry series. But I caved for Swallowing Darkness after hearing what I believed to be a perfect performance in just the lil sample that is given. After listening to part one of the dl I am very pleased that I did. Claudia's timing and accent are exceptional. It is how I would imagine the Faye to speak. Her ability to change from character to character and to make Meredith not sound like an old woman made the whole experience appealing and not a turn off. I am saddened she was not used for book 8 and still do not understand how that whole process works. I hope to see her return for book 9; that is once it is released. :)

What other book might you compare Swallowing Darkness to and why?

. in my opinion.. and if you have read the previous ones I would say you must continue on, this is a story filled with an ever winding road- mystery and intrigue . Laurell's style is raw and filled with great detail for this i can not compare it other than to say it is but a side to the supernatural / paranormal world that I find extremely appealing.

Have you listened to any of Claudia Black???s other performances before? How does this one compare?

n/a

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I find i am always moved by the emotions of the characters; they become so real and through-out the journey Laurell spins for her readers i find great sadness and joy. there were many with in this tale but I do not wish to spoil them for anyone else who wishes to read/listen

Would you listen to Lover Reborn again? Why?

Every book in this series I have listened to repeatedly.. J.R. Ward's style is raw, sarcastic, quit witted and in your face.. captures your attention from the very first chapter, and doesn't let go. Tohrment's story is no different.. A MUST READ for anyone who likes paranormal with real grit and great imagery.. pulls you into Caldwell and the world of the Brotherhood like insects to a bug zapper!

What did you like best about this story?

The journey, the fact that its told over a lengthy span of time and not one of those short novels; at nearly 600 pages you never want it to end: Tohrment's story has been one that those into this series have longed to get their hands on, at least in my opinion. After the loss of his beloved he was a wrecked man and in this story we see the man build himself back up from the loss and find love again. the trials and tribulations of John Matthew and Xhex as well as the building blocks that have been laid out for Blay and Quinn's story are just the bitter sweetness filling out what I feel is the most anticipated story in the Brotherhood.

What about Jim Frangione???s performance did you like?

Jim has a remarkable way of individualizing each and every character, he really brings them all to life.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

J.R. Ward brings every emotion possible out of her readers. Its a roller coaster ride of joy, contentment, harsh reality, hatred, boisterous laughter, and great sadness to the point of sobbing.
