Last time Lila Harris was in Happy, Texas, she was actively earning her reputation as the resident wild child. Now, a little older and wiser, she's back to run her mother's café for the summer. Except something about this town has her itching to get a little reckless and rowdy, especially when she sees her old partner-in-crime, Brody Dawson. Their chemistry is just as hot as ever. Finally we get a book worthy of the Pendergast character. I really enjoyed seeing him in action as an FBI agent and an uncommonly brilliant man. Right up until the epilogue I had tremendous hope for this series. We shall see. But this book is a solid 9 out of 10 stars.

Much better than the last book in this series with interesting characters and a lot of action. The story made Robie and Jessica seem very real and very human. Something about the title and the ending of the story make me think the series could be coming to a satisfying conclusion.

I loved the first few Maiden Lane books but really could not find interest in the middle part of the series. I was pretty bored when I saw this release and decided to get it. But after hours of stressed listening about a horrid subject, I was really ready for it to end. I did listen to the whole story but it was not a relaxing, enjoyable romance. It left me wrung out emotionally. Be ware before getting this book. It is not a feel good story.
