If you've read more than two or three of Sowell's books, quite a bit of the content will be familiar. Nonetheless, he - as always - does an amazing job of articulating his points without insulting the intelligence of his readers. Overall, another Sowell classic.

The book is entertaining if you're interested in SOF military life. I enjoyed the SEAL stories regarding training, etc. The bulk of the book though, seems to be David complaining about his conditions. While his accomplishments are quite astounding; they're not limited to him. Many people have accomplished the same things. The only reason they seem outstanding from his perspective is because he failed to properly prepare. He further says that anyone can accomplish great things because it's mostly a mental attitude (which I agree with), but then states that you're not him, and he's special.

He also uses an unnecessary amount of f-bombs. As a grunt myself, I can relate to that language. With that said, this is a book, and much of the foul language just seems out of place. It makes it more difficult to take him seriously.

He also states he isn't writing the book for attention, etc. He then, on MANY occasions, encourages people to post things on social media with specific tags. It was just odd.

Again, if you enjoy military literature, there is some value in the book.

Should be required reading for High school students. Chapter two is a fantastic review of the value and importance of free speech.

Great book, great read. It's amazing to me that this book was originally published in 1995. As an author Thomas Sowell is so far ahead of his time. The text held within this book are so vastly relevant today it's amazing.
