People say Beartown is finished. A tiny community nestled deep in the forest, it is slowly losing ground to the ever encroaching trees. But down by the lake stands an old ice rink, built generations ago by the working men who founded this town. And in that ice rink is the reason people in Beartown believe tomorrow will be better than today. Their junior ice hockey team is about to compete in the national semifinals, and they actually have a shot at winning.

I loved Bear Town so much that after listening to the audiobook I purchased the hardcover book to display. The characters are perfect, the narration is also amazing. This is nothing short of a modern classic. Thank You Audible for adding this to your best of list. I agreed with the excellent reviews I read here. This book is not just about hockey. I felt a level of suspense throughout the entire story. Bang, bang, bang. What an absolute masterpiece.

After everything that the citizens of Beartown have gone through, they are struck yet another blow when they learn that their beloved local hockey team will soon be disbanded. What makes it worse is the obvious satisfaction that all the former Beartown players, who now play for a rival team in Hed, take in that fact. Amidst the mounting tension between the two rivals, a surprising newcomer is handpicked to be Beartown's new hockey coach. Soon a new team starts to take shape around Amat, the fastest player you'll ever see; Benji, the crazed lone wolf; and Vidar, a born-to-be-bad troublemaker.

I loved Bear Town so much that after listening to the audiobook. I purchased the hardcover book to display. I love most Backman books. I anticipated this book and sadly this it got everything wrong. The entire politician story and so many other side stories were useless. The interesting characters from the first story were barely in this. I did not understand certain actions and motivations.

Bear Town introduced so many amazing characters. It is one of my top five favorite books. This will sadly rank as one of the worst books. The performance is once again amazing. I can hear the emotions of the narrator during the end scenes especially. I am sad. I did not want to give any book one star but this one really hurt.

I read Goodkind 20 years ago. As I often do I moved on and got busy etc. This book is brutal, disturbing, in your face etc. I loved it and felt I got a really good value and what may be a great series. I wish there was a second book.

Long before Marty McFly and Doc Brown traveled through time in a flying DeLorean, director Robert Zemeckis and his friend and writing partner Bob Gale worked tirelessly to break into the industry with a hit. For the first time ever, the story of how these two young filmmakers struck lightning is being told by those who witnessed it. We Don't Need Roads includes original interviews with Zemeckis, Gale, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Huey Lewis, and over 50 others who contributed to one of the most popular and profitable film trilogies of all time.

I know these reviews were the personal tastes of the editors and that is great however I would like to see different types of books added to these lists. This all time best list is pretty much the opposite type of books that I enjoy. I would advise adding an editor who enjoys fantasy, history etc.

I am sure these are great books but everyone has different tastes.

An empty apartment, a missing family, that's creepy. But this is like finding a military base with no one on it. Fighters and tanks idling on the runway with no drivers. This is bad juju. Something wrong happened here. What you should do is tell everyone to leave. The gates have opened the way to a thousand new worlds, and the rush to colonize has begun. Settlers looking for a new life stream out from humanity's home planets. Ilus, the first human colony on this vast new frontier, is being born in blood and fire.
