Immaculately written, beautifully performed, it was a classic novel. A fabulous and surprisingly uplifting escape.

The Inheritance of Loss audiobook cover art

Lots of insight into modern India and it's connections to the US and Europe in the post-colonial world. Very interesting in this moment of hysteria over illegal immigration, but I wish it had a clearer plot. I'm glad to have heard it, but I'm gladder it's over.

My Year of Meats audiobook cover art

I prefer novels to be much less preachy

The actual main character in theis "novel" is the evil of the meat industry. The actors seem to be secondary to the political rant about the dangers of meat production, processing, medicines, etc. This is really "The Jungle" for the 21st century, with less compelling plot and characters. I'm quite interested in the topic, and sympathetic, but I'd rather not get my scientific information on the meat industry from a novel.
