The story itself wasn't bad, it wasn't that great either, but it certainly shouldn't be listed in the horror genre. It might be considered scary if you were 12 years old reading it around a campfire at a girl scout jamboree. The narrator was what really saved this book. She was great.

It's Peretti's ultimate monster story. And this time, the monster is real. Miles away from the hectic city, Reed and Rebecca hike into the beautiful Northwestern woods. They're surrounded by gorgeous mountains, waterfalls, and hundreds of acres of unspoiled wilderness. But something - or someone - begins closing in on them. Something no human has ever seen. And it's killing everyone in its path without remorse.

Meet George and Lou, thugs for hire. The kind of intimidating-yet-friendly guys who will break your thumbs, but be polite about it. Their latest assignment is to drive across Florida to deliver some precious cargo to a crime lord. The cargo: a man in a cage. Though Ivan seems perfectly human, they're warned that he is, in fact, a bloodthirsty werewolf.

I began to suspect something was wrong with the gothic building when its family fled in the middle of the night, the children screaming, the mother crying. They never came back to pack up their furniture. A new occupant, Anna, has just moved in. I paid her a visit to warn her about the building. I didn't expect us to become friends, but we did. And now that Marwick House is waking up, she's asked me to stay with her. I never intended to become involved with the building or its vengeful, dead inhabitant. But now I have to save Anna.

(NOT SCARY......AT ALL!!! MILDLY CREEPY AT BEST) It started off pretty good, moved along nicely, but it went south really quickly after chapter 23. It just seemed like the author either gave up or didn't know where to take the story. By the end of the book I just wanted it to be over. I didn't even care what happened to the characters.
