A personal look at a crime of passion describes an FBI agent's successful career, family life, and extramarital affair that ended in murder, and the guilt that drove him to confess in spite of his impenetrable government shield. As some true crime books go, they sometimes seem to get bogged down with almost too much back story. During my listen of this book, I thought the same thing. In fact, I quite listening to this book & started another because of that. However, during the last 2-3 chapters you become aware of why so much backstory is required. Everything gets tied in together & you end up quite liking the book! Stick with it, it's worth it.

Monsters are real, and human beings can be the scariest of them all. It's an unfortunate fact that real life is sometimes more twisted than even the worst horror writer can imagine. Nowhere is this seen more clearly than when discussing serial killers. While many people can understand, if not condone, a crime of passion or vengeance, it is different for those who kill, time and time again, for reasons that the common person, could not hope to understand?

Great book, but the narrator was a little "nice" I almost felt like she was reading a kids book instead of a true crime book.
