When Max Krupin - Russia's leader - discovers that his kidney cancer has spread to his brain, he's determined to hide his diagnosis. He begins by getting rid of anyone threatening to him - as well as creating chaos in the region to keep the world's attention diverted. Soon, Krupin's illness becomes serious enough that he needs a more dramatic diversion, prompting him to invade the Baltics. Desperate to understand what's causing Krupin's unusually erratic behavior and Russia's aggressive moves in the region, America begins working with Russia's disgraced prime minister to stage a coup.

Like many others, Pride and Prejudice is my absolutely favorite novel. It is enough to make one swoon. I have avoided reading/listening to any of the P & P variations for fear that they would not do justice to the original and taint the storyline, however, I finally took the plunge. This is the second variation of P & P that I've read by Joana Starnes and I must say she has not disappointed. The first, The Unthinkable Triangle, was so beautifully done, that I immediately sought out more titles by her. The stories pay homage to the original by incorporating some of the familiar, and memorable dialogue, albeit in different surroundings, and the main players, maintained the charcteristics as Austen imagined them, with pleasantly surprising outcomes, even as new players are introduced. Again narrated by Stevie Zimmerman, who does an exceptional job. No doubt I'll be seeking out more works by the author and the narrator. Well done. Capital!!!

Admittedly, I was concerned that Kyle Mills would not be able to capture the essence and feel of Vince Flynn's writing, however, after listening to the novel, I have absolutely no complaints! It was flawless! The story line was seamless in its continuation, with familiar characters, and familiar emotions elicited. As always, George Guidall was on point, representing each character as only he can. When I listen to his narration, I forget that there is only one narrator! He makes each character come alive with a unique spin. He delivers flawlessly as always! Thank you Kyle and George. Vince Flynn would be proud. I can't wait for the next one :)

It's a gorgeous autumn day in Georgetown. The Democratic candidates for president and vice-president of the United States are dutifully glad-handing voters and the media outside a grand estate where a national-security conference has just been held, bringing together the world's greatest minds to discuss the issues that are threatening the country. It's American politicking at its best. That's when all hell breaks loose.

I cannot say enough about George Guidall and his narration of the Mitch Rapp series! Fantastic! I haven't read the novels in the series in sequence and it was great catching up to the makings of Mitch Rapp. Again, I might very well be biased at this point but there is not a bad thing I can say about Vince Flynn's style, Guidall's narration or Mitch Rapp. I'm in spy thriller heaven!! :)

For months, Mitch Rapp has been steadily working his way through a list of men, bullet by bullet. With each kill, the tangled network of monsters responsible for the slaughter of 270 civilians becomes increasingly clear. He is given his next target: a plump Libyan diplomat who is prone to drink and is currently in Paris without a single bodyguard. Rapp finds him completely unprotected and asleep in his bed. With confidence in his well-honed skills and conviction of the man’s guilt, he easily sends a bullet into the man’s skull. But in the split second it takes the bullet to leave the silenced pistol, everything changes.
