NYPD Detective Alec MacAidan has always been good with weird. After all, his life has been a string of the unexplainable. But when an injured man gives him cryptic clues, then turns to dust in front of him, Alec's view on weird is changed forever. Cronin, a vampire Elder, has spent the last 1,000 years waiting for Alec. He'd been told his fated one would be a man wielding a shield, but he didn't expect him to be human, and he certainly didn't expect that shield to be a police badge.

Would you consider the audio edition of Cronin's Key to be better than the print version?

Although the physical book is great, Joel Leslie's narration of the story is the icing on a phenomenal cake! As it does contain very graphic Gay male situations, the book may not be for everyone; that said, I loaned my hard copy of the book to a str8 female friend who became fascinated by the excellent characters & amazing storyline. She shared it with a str8 male friend who is enthralled with the whole vampire & history genre. He is also open minded enough he didn't mind the sex. They both wound up getting the physical set of 3 novels & the Audible versions!!! I cannot say enough about the ocean of difference between the print & audio. Joel Leslie takes you on a master's tour of this exciting story. The audio opens up amazing depth to the story. The books are great, the Audio is Epic!!!

What other book might you compare Cronin's Key to and why?

I have yet to find anything to totally match this series. It is the cream of the crop.

Which character – as performed by Joel Leslie – was your favorite?

Sorry, it's a tie!! Cronin & Alec (or Ailig) either one will have gay men falling madly in love with them. No wonder Mr Leslie has won so many awards for his work. He & his accent talents are national treasures!!!!!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Love is strong & ageless!

Any additional comments?

Do yourself a favor; listen to this series whatever your orientation. So worth the time!!!!

Twelve months after his change, Alec MacAidan is still getting used to his many vampire talents. While most vampires would give anything to have more than one supernatural power, Alec craves nothing more than peace and time alone with Cronin. But when Alec meets entities from outside this realm, he's left powerless in their presence. Zoan are half-lycan, half-dragon creatures that have slipped through time and reality, seemingly undetected by man and vampire. Or have they?

The story itself is amazing on several levels. Although I have now ordered softcover editions of the books, Joel Leslie's phenomenal reading of this tale will curl your toenails & make your heart beat faster. His Scottish accent for Cronin alone is cause for palpitations! I swear I would listen to Joel read the phone book. When you add in a riveting tale......all I can say is....WORD!!!!

As a long time reader of James Rollins books it was easy to decide to read this series. little did I know then how wonderful it really was!!!! I have now read all 3 books AND listened to all 3 books. It won't be the last time. James & Rebecca managed beautifully to "breathe life" into such unusual but intriguing characters. Believability is never an issue! I highly recommend this series!!
