Enjoyable life story about second chances and the importance of family support. Therese Plummer is an excellent narrator that instills enthusiasm when listening to her performance. She never sounds dull as many narrators do when reading. Her narration makes the story an enjoyable listen.

Struggled to finish. Men were tough & awesome. Heroin appears weak & stupid. Totally predictable.

The overall was enjoyable although, too much descriptive sex for my taste. Had to fast forward through the all too descriptive sex scenes but realize others may need that in their lives. Much of the words contract was met with the "F" word. Very overdone. I believe the object was to establish the difference in personalities but could have been achieved in a less offensive way.

This is my least favorite Heather Graham thus far. There is a good story of prejudices and the hope of overcoming those prejudices in an effort for us to live together as human beings. I couldn't read the whole book but jumped through to read the last 3 chapters so there was enough of a hook that I wanted to know the ending. :)

Too much time spent on sexual exploits to take up words on the story. There's a good mystery hidden within the descriptive sexual escapades. Could have really enjoyed this story without the intent to use words and time with the descriptive sexual escapades. More pornography than story which is unfortunate.

This is a great book. I enjoy how the author begins with the history surrounding the setting. It is so easy to imagine where the story is taking place and the characters become so vivid in my mind that I feel as if I know them and am a part of the journey.
This book has humor, mystery, romance and history and was hard for me to turn off before finishing. The recipe is a fun twist although I most likely won't use it.

Some of the scenes are offensive to women but we have to keep the story in context. It is historical and unfortunately the way it was all those years ago when women were considered a mere a possession and it was a man's world. I took solace in the fact that the women maintained as much independence as was possible during the times in which the story was set.

More smut than substance. The female character was disappointing because she sounded so wimpy although her character was revealed as strong. I would have preferred that she sounded stronger and not like such a wuss. The ending was, of course, great with the happy ending I prefer. However, the smut was focused on much more than the story and adventure. Not my favorite.

I couldn't finish this book. I read other Rosilind James books that I enjoyed. This one just moved so very slow and seemed so drawn out I had to put it down without the ending. A rarity for me. I normally plow through but the story line was so unbelievable, the hero so absolutely controlling, and the heroine just boring.
