Superheroes have always been Leia Birch Briggs' weakness. One tequila-soaked night at a comics convention, the usually level-headed graphic novelist is swept off her barstool by a handsome and anonymous Batman. It turns out the caped crusader has left her with more than just a nice, fuzzy memory. She's having a baby boy - an unexpected but not unhappy development in the 38-year-old's life.

The Almost Sisters isn't my usual genre but I was intrigued. I almost stopped listening after the first couple of chapters because the narrator seemed annoying; however I am so glad I continued listening. The narration was actually really good and suited the main character perfectly. The language and the story are great. I rarely give anything 5 stars (well Ready Player One of course) but this one deserves it!

She ups the moving date when Chav goes missing, and Sunny high tails it to the small town. What Sunny doesn't realize is that she's moving into a community of were-shifters, and they don't want a human resident.

What would have made Rendezvous with Yesterday better?

If I'd known it was a romance, wouldn't have bought it. And if Bethany were not so thick.

Would you ever listen to anything by Dianne Duvall again?

no

What about Kirsten Potter’s performance did you like?

she did a good job with the male accents and voices, the texas accent was tiresome.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Rendezvous with Yesterday?

all the tedious verbage of tingling, shocks, et cetera - so very what I don't like in romances

What disappointed you about Shady Palms?

everything - the characters are one dimensional and not believable. Seriously given the oversight of public employee web use, I highly doubt that a FBI agent will be on stake out watching porn with his partner in the back seat. The narrator was also completely wrong for the story (not sleazy enough). Lastly, the plot left a lot to be desired as well.

What do you think your next listen will be?

The FIrst Fifteen Lives of Harry August

What didn’t you like about Rose Caraway’s performance?

She is okay as a narrator but just not appropriate for this story which really needed a snarky, condescending male voice.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment and eye-rolling.

Any additional comments?

The story description was intriguing but definitely did not adequately classify this type of novel.

What made the experience of listening to The Didymus Contingency the most enjoyable?

The narrator is very good.

What was most disappointing about Jeremy Robinson’s story?

HIs characters are unbelievable and I thought the book should have indicated it was Christian fiction.

What does R. C. Bray bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Depth - the characters were very two dimensional and the narrator brought some life to them.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Well, in the sense that I couldn't believe the author portrayed such supposedly educated scientists in such a childish, stunted manner. There were several times I actually groaned and thought, "seriously????"

Any additional comments?

I would not recommend this book to my friends or family.

What disappointed you about Feral Sins?

I adore mysteries, science fiction (hard core) and paranormal (such as the Greywalker series). This definitely was not one for my tastes - predominately sex with werewolf as basis for kinkier sex. Not much story.

Has Feral Sins turned you off from other books in this genre?

makes me very cautious in looking for books in the fantasy category

What about Jill Redfield’s performance did you like?

she was amazing - particularly given the text she was reading.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

personally not but that is because romance novels are so not my cuppa

Nothing sucks the romance out of world travel like a boyfriend who may or may not have broken up with you in a hotel room in Brussels. Jane Jameson's sexy sire Gabriel has always been unpredictable, but the seductive, anonymous notes that await him at each stop of their international vacation, coupled with his evasive behavior over the past few months, finally push Jane onto the next flight home to Half Moon Hollow -- alone, upset, and unsure whether Gabriel just ended their relationship without actually telling her.
