When a joint FBI-Seattle Police investigation of an international child pornography ring gets too close to certain powerful people, sex-crimes detective Livia Lone becomes the target of a hit that barely goes awry - a hit that had been offered to John Rain, a retired specialist in “natural causes.” Suspecting the FBI itself was behind the attack, Livia reaches out to former Marine sniper Dox. Together, they assemble an ad hoc group to identify and neutralize the threat. There’s Rain. Rain’s estranged lover, Mossad agent and honeytrap specialist Delilah.

and well worth the wait! Mr. Eisler is one of, if not the, best writers in this genre.I have listened to every book, several times, and this is one of the best. Not as much fight action which is good because instead there is great character development. The principles are much more human than previously portrayed, and are much easier to relate to because of it. The second fantastic part of this, and these, is that the author is a truly talented narrator as well, and his voice to his words makes for an unbeatable combination. Thank you Mr. Eisler, well done!

IMO, by far and away this is the best of an amazing series, and at the top of this genre. A great author who knocked it out of the park with this one. Mr. Brick delivered a perfect performance, wasn’t over the top and relayed the emotions of the characters in a way that made them real. Well done, I can’t hardly wait for the next!

Hot on the trail of a North Korean looking to sell sensitive US intelligence to the Syrian regime, Pike Logan and the Taskforce stumble upon something much graver: the sale of a lethal substance called Red Mercury. Unbeknownst to the Taskforce, the Syrians plan to use the weapon of mass destruction against American and Kurdish forces and blame the attack on terrorists, causing Western nations to reassess their participation in the murky cauldron of the Syrian civil war. Meanwhile, North Korea has its own devastating agenda: a double cross that will dwarf the attack in Syria.

After an overhaul of leadership at the FBI's New York field office, A. X. L. Pendergast is abruptly forced to accept an unthinkable condition of continued employment: the famously rogue agent must now work with a partner. Pendergast and his new teammate, junior agent Coldmoon, are assigned to Miami Beach, where a rash of killings by a bloodthirsty psychopath are distinguished by a confounding M.O.: cutting out the hearts of his victims and leaving them - along with cryptic handwritten letters - at local gravestones, unconnected save in one bizarre way.

First to be fair, this series is written in a way that leads to the expectation that some things will be consistent, and this falls short from the others in that regard. The only part that’s the same is Pendergast, but not really. He isn’t as odd, and while he does his usual test tube and tweezers routine it’s to no point. It’s almost like someone else wrote the book and didn’t quite get him right. Good all the same but not as good as we have come to expect. As always however, narration is superb

With U.S. intelligence agencies wracked by internal power struggles and paralyzed by bureaucracy, the President was forced to establish his own clandestine group-Covert-One. It is only activated as a last resort, when the threat is on a global scale and time is running out. In northern Uganda, an American special forces team is decimated by a group of normally peaceful farmers. Video of the attack shows even women and children possessing almost supernatural speed and strength, consumed with a rage that makes them immune to pain, fear, and all but the most devastating injuries.

Of this author but initially skeptical of the series. Glad I took the chance! I really enjoyed, for a change, how the good guys and the bad guys were on the same sides. I also found it refreshing that things didn’t always go to plan, the bad guys got to win almost as much. Not in the end but much more realistically portrayed. My 2nd of the series and will soon be onto another

but I have to say that I was very disappointed. I get that action stories suspended reality and defy belief, but this was way too far into left field. I enjoyed the previous books and had hoped for at least the same level of enjoyment from this. Sadly not the case. Rushed, very choppy, and kinda ridiculous. I stopped twice and was going to return it but decided to suck it up and finish it. Probably should have stopped. It was made worse as the narrator THOUGHT HE COULD ADD DRAMATIC EFFECT by yelling or REALLY hyping it up, which failed badly and only gave me a headache. The dialogue was very poor between the one dimensional characters and I’m just left very disappointed. I’m pretty much never very critical about a book, and I feel bad leaving a negative review, but feedback like this will hopefully help the author and narrator, as well as the listeners, to have a better listen next time.
