If your funny older sister were the former deputy chief of staff to President Barack Obama, her behind-the-scenes political memoir would sound something like this. Who Thought This Was a Good Idea? is an intimate and admiring portrait of a president, a candid book of advice for young women, and a promising debut from a savvy political star.

I think I was just expecting some inside scoop on working with the president, but it was that and more. I loved learning about Alyssa and I relate so much to many of her experiences, the way she sees life and the major struggle with IBS...lol. It was deep, it was fun and she was an excellent narrator too.

It’s a really nice hook, but the narrator’s swallowing sounds get in the way a bit. I’ve listened to a lot of books and there has to be a way to swallow saliva more subtly. She’s a good narrator though, so it makes up for the little annoyance.
