A century ago, the Sentience Wars tore the galaxy apart and nearly ended the entire concept of intelligent space-faring life. In the aftermath, a curious tradition was invented - something to cheer up everyone who was left and bring the shattered worlds together in the spirit of peace, unity, and understanding. Once every cycle, the civilizations gather for the Metagalactic Grand Prix - part gladiatorial contest, part beauty pageant, part concert extravaganza, and part continuation of the wars of the past.

I finished this book in 2 days and was never bored. I love his work and should not have been as surprised as I was with the depth of emotion the author is able to elicit. This is a strong one.

The change in narrator from the original release of the first book was a bit tough to get used to at the beginning. This narrator did a decent job overall, but failed to capture the personalities established in the first book. This book had a lot of continuity issues, I felt. I cannot imagine how tough it is to write a story from multiple perspectives in time, and then try to link it all together. I did not feel that this book did the story justice. A lot of the plot elements seem to have been almost chosen at random.

The real star of this book was the backstory that was told about Dean and Gloria. In reading the segments set in that time there was far more interest and vivacity that seemed to have been completely drained from our characters that comprise the team; The Supernaturals.

I absolutely adored the first book and was sadly disappointed in the sequel.

In 1518, in a small town in Alsace, Frau Troffea began dancing and didn't stop. She danced until she was carried away six days later, and soon 34 more villagers joined her. Then more. In a month more than 400 people had been stricken by the mysterious dancing plague. In late-19th-century England an eccentric gentleman founded the No Nose Club in his gracious townhome - a social club for those who had lost their noses, and other body parts, to the plague of syphilis for which there was then no cure.

Kaylin returned from the West March in one piece. Now that piece is fraying. She's not at home in the Imperial Palace - and she never intends to be. All she wants is normal garden-variety criminals and a place of her own. Of course, normal in her new life involves a dragon as a roommate, but she can handle that. Kaylin can't as easily handle the new residents to the city she polices, because one of them is Nightshade's younger brother. On a night when she should be talking to landlords in perfectly normal buildings, she's called to the fief - by Teela.

Adam Baldwin was an awesome narrator. The story was short and sweet and packs a punch with references and banter. The pointed contemporary political commentary kept kicking me out of the story. Come on Larry, this is my escape from that crap. In a longer story or series like MHI, the politics help the story and develope the charachter. In my opinion it was too concentrated for so short a story.

STOP. You should not have touched this flyer with your bare hands. NO, don't put it down. It's too late. They're watching you. My name is David Wong. My best friend is John. Those names are fake. You might want to change yours. You may not want to know about the things you'll read on these pages, about the sauce, about Korrok, about the invasion, and the future. But it's too late. You touched the book. You're in the game. You're under the eye. The only defense is knowledge. You need to read this book, to the end. Even the part with the bratwurst. Why?

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.
