We're ready. We've studied and planned, read all the birth and labor books, researched parenting classes, consulted our schedules, and it's time. And by "we", I mean me. Declan's just ready for the "have lots of sex" part. More than ready. But there's just one problem: My husband and his brother have this little obsession with competition. McCormick men don't just have babies. They engage in competitive billionaire Babythons.

Blue Brigham was the man of the farm from an early age, so it was easy to get swept up in his older-than-his-years charm all those years ago. But when it came down to it, legal wasn't enough to keep a town like theirs from talking, and Harper Haley just wouldn't risk going public with their brief affair. She'd packed up and left town to marry another man her own age, thinking she'd left the past behind. Blue thought he knew what he signed up for when he moved his sister back in at the farm after her husband left her for another woman, but when Harper shows up, he knows he's in for trouble, still holding onto the grudge from all those years before....

I received this book for a review and I find that I have to review it in parts.

The book itself was nice. It was laced with history and that history was almost its own character. There is a nice little surprise in the story near the end and it helps with the characters when it's revealed.

The narration...I find that I really enjoy Tor Tom's narration. It's very natural. Easy to listen to, easy to follow the story line as he's narrating. Charley Ongel, however, I really did not enjoy the over dramatic stressing at the beginning of every sentence that she does. It's very distracting to the story....then, just as I was ready to story listening, I heard a point in her tone that was easy and natural and it made me think that she must be stressing like that on purpose. I really don't care for that practice of hers with the extra stress on the beginning of EVERY sentence. It's not how people talk and it kept pulling me out of the story.

I did finish the book and overall, I liked it. I would just suggest a different approach on the narration...not saying to not have Charley, but to just make sure that she dropped the over stressing and just let her natural tone and conversational timing take over. That was very nice to listen to when it happened!

This was an interesting book. the angst between the characters was really, really good. I loved how the brotherhood used the rules to make a stand and yet true live
love made Leo react wildly.
the narration was good. I was only bothered by the fact that some of the characters were made to sound like old movie gangsters.... yet, it was set in New York and there were a lot of male characters to narrate.
I liked seeing the music score to ballet being modern rock and was kind of upset when noone stood up for her coming out in fishnet stockings with her hair all wild. I love the mix of classical ballet with modern creativity.
I wish they would have connected with her twin and that the story would have jumped forward more in the epilogue.... but over all, I enjoyed this book!

This is not a sanctimonious, bible thumping review. It is not meant to be high handed or rude, but be clear, I have a very strong opinion about this story.
As a human being, I know that we all have urges and sometimes question the direction of our lives. I know a man who was a priest and a woman who was a nun who left their callings to marry each other and have a family, who to this day, honor God very much in their life.
As a Catholic, I found this story to be so very disrespectful. For me, the use of Catholic symbols for sexual acts in a sacred space, was something that really lent nothing but shock value and anger to this story.
I seriously wonder if Ms. Simone is Catholic. If she is, then I wonder if she maybe fell in love with a priest who chose his church instead of her and she is bitter because of it. If she isn't, then how dare she be so ignorant to what is SACRED to so many people.
Now, I am not a perfect Catholic. I love erotic books, can cuss with the best and can be selfish at times among many other sins ... but to use what are SACRED religious symbols and SACRED verbiage and prayer the way it was used in this book, is simply sacrileage.
No. NO, it is NOT okay to use holy chrism oil for anal sex and you do NOT use our words of consecration in sexual acts on top of the table of the Eucharist!
None of what this book displays is anything other than utter disrespect and ignorance.
Just the fact that he is a priest who is struggling with his vow because he was falling in love with a woman is an interesting enough story in and of itself. Add to that... the decision to actually follow through and have sex is a big damn deal.
I knew before the 2nd chapter that he chose to be a priest for totally the wrong reasons! It happens! There was so much potential to write a story that actually addressed a very difficult topic. This story could have gotten so much respectable attention and been a piece of work that wasn't just written to fit the label of romance/TABOO.
Do I think that the Catholic religion is perfect? Absolutely NOT! I think the human element of ANY religion makes EVERY religion imperfect because humans are imperfect! I personally think that priests SHOULD be able to be married. I don't think parishes need to buy GOLD chalises and bowls on the alter because the bread and wine are the body and blood of Christ. I believe that WE are the precious vessels that MAKE the bread and wine become the body and blood. There are many MAN MADE laws of my religion that I don't agree with, but those are MY issues. This? This is something completely different. For the author to write this story the way she did...is nothing short of insulting!
I want my money back and I'd really also like any apology! That being said, I am a grown up and I chose to read this book to the very end so that I wouldn't be forming a harsh opinion on an incomplete story. I can honestly say I gave it a full chance. Parts of it, I really enjoyed. Yes, the sex was hot. Yes, his family history was compelling. But the rest of it lacked so much depth of thought and actual heart, that it was hard to even be happy at the end!
I mean, seriously. Two grown adults couldn't even control themselves long enough to get married without having sex....in yet another church! Whatever!
I have never written a harsh review for a book, in my life! I am a avid reader and friends with MANY authors. I beta read and read ARCs, I proof read and work with authors a lot just because I LOVE books!
This one certainly pulled a lot of emotions from me. Unfortunately, not many of them were good.
This is one book that I will NOT recommend to any of my friends... especially any who would happen to be Catholic.

my only complaint is that the needed to be more of a pause in the audio for a scene change. I found myself rewinding it because it would trip up the flow of the story and I had a hard time following the very sudden change without a pause to announce the change in pov or scene was coming.
this story deals with great, horrifying tragedies but shows that the power of love is strong enough overcome the adversity if you can only forgive yourself and be open to it!

the narrator did a nice job over all, but she needs to take a little longer pause between character point of view changes. when you are reading it on paper, you visually see the paragraph break or the bigger spacing. your mind is clued in to a pov and scene change. when she was reading it, there wasn't enough of a pause and therefore, it was a bit confusing at times.
