Billingham is one of those writers that I would follow to the ends of the Earth. He's just so good. I listened almost straight through because I couldn't stop. And he's also an amazing narrator. I can't wait for the next Thorne.

Sadly, not the author's best work. I found myself wanting it to just be over because it really began to drag in the second half. And, quite frankly, none of the characters are very likeable. A great narrator couldn't save the very average material. I usually love LM so it was a disappointment.

I'm not sure how or why I finished this. It's fairly implausible and silly. Lots of cliches and obligatory sexuality. The author seems obsessed with breasts. The narrators were better than the material for the most part but that's not saying much. Not sure I'd buy this author again.

Tedious, predictable, cliché. I couldn't wait for it to just be over. I spent the entire book wishing I had returned it. I made it to the end, but just barely. I was shocked to read this is a best-selling series in Scotland. The characters are underdeveloped, uninteresting, and very formulaic. If you want a Scotsman, read Rebus. Monteath was adequate, but sometimes his characters were indistinguishable from one another. My first and last Meyrick.

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I love it when a new one comes out and then really hate it when it's over. I would love to get a new one of these literally once a week, although I know that's not possible. Horowitz proves, time and again, that you don't need sex and gore to tell a compelling story. The whole idea of injecting his true self into a work of fiction is just beyond clever and makes these books especially fun to read. And they're just beautifully written. I WANT MORE!

Pretty average installment to the series. I found this dragging and overwrought towards the end and actually skipped a few chapters. Thornley was good, as always. The ending made me think even Finch wants a do-over.

I've been with Max since the beginning and this is another great installment. Mace's performance is flawless. Parsons is one of my favorite writers in this genre. His characters are complex and he manages to deliver the thrills without too much gore.
