Characters are well developed & many other familiar characters (from series etc.) included and combination makes for a cohesive story line. As for Tack/ Kane & Red/Tyra's chemistry- HOT!!! and gets even More SCORCHING (if possible). Tack is one sexy ALPHA that will take care of his woman & kids BUT he is not a male that remains stuck in his ideals... He listens and learns and allows Himself to learn what Red needs. RED is a STRONG woman that demands to be treated as an equal- she is an intelligent and confident female that will fight for those she loves. If you are looking for a damsel in distress that needs a man to always hold her up then this is not the book/series for you. This story contains what some might consider offensive language (f**k etc. ), violence, & hot sex scenes. If you like to read more of a "tamer" less explicit romance than you will need to move on! If you are a reader that is always open & down for anything then you will love this author, book, & series- great MC romance. If fall in love with this author's work then you might want to look at authors like Sylvia Day, Joanna Wylde, Sarah Castille, Lexy Timms, Maya Banks, Kristen Proby, Carly Philips & Erika Wilde, K.Bromberg, Helena Hunting, Meghan March, Katy Evans, Madeline Sheehan, Bella Jewel, Nicole Snow, Jamie Begley, and ... If you could sum up A Love of Vengeance in three words, what would they be?

A fair storyline with somewhat developed main characters and many supporting characters that perhaps will have their own story in the future. The plot might be believable to some, but depending on the listener's tolerance and expectations it could fall short- it did for me at least. I had difficulty "buying" into the plot because in my opinion some of the mob/mafia reactions (and actions) were just too ridiculously "soft" :( I contribute a big portion of my opinion to the performance/ portrayal of the characters.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Love of Vengeance?

Memorable, hmmmm I would have to say that the climax of the story- sorry I do not like spoilers so I will withhold the details. I can say that I had high hopes as the rising action was heading towards this vital aspect and then... poof! I felt let down- my expectations were not met.

Did Scott Schumaker do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

The key phrase "a good job differentiating all the characters" is the whole problem that I experienced. Dual narrators or a different narrator that could do an overall admirable job performing the male characters but also an admirable job of the females too!!! In my opinion, I had difficulty believing the entire plot because I could not connect to the characters. Why? First, the female characters (a whole two of them) were done very poorly- the best I can describe is that it sounded like a guy trying to mimic a female- no way around that in this particular case! As a result, the female characters were weak and therefore I did not believe in some of their thoughts, actions, etc.. As for the male characters- there were only three characters that sounded okay! just okay... For instance, Stefono- the head of a major mafia family came across as a dweeb- a ball-less dweeb. The voice did not fit the character at all. Again, I feel that in part, I could not connect to the story because I could not connect to the characters and this pattern just continued to until the very end. This might be one of these books that might need to be read and not listened to. Clearly, this is entirely what I experienced and felt while listening to the book... other listeners might be okay with the narration. Sadly, if the narration is difficult to listen too then it really f*$#s with my imagination and ability to see and experience the book :(

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes, both were experienced because I kept hoping it would get better b/c I was determined to finish it.

Any additional comments?

I will continue to read this author's books because I think she is really great at her craft... I will just mark this one off as a fluke!!! For those that totally thought the narrator and book were fab... GREAT and more power to you! Different viewpoints are what makes our world continue to grow and change...To each his own! Happy Reading!!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Well, it is a Kristen Ashley book and the series is fantastic, but since the narrator was really bad I would give a warning if they were KA fans. I would not reccommend this book if they had not read any other of KA's books :(

What was one of the most memorable moments of Ride Steady?

I do not want to spoil it for any potential readers, but I can say that whenever Elvira & Cherry are involved there is alot of attitude & it is pretty funny.

Which character – as performed by Kate Russell – was your favorite?

NONE WERE MY FAVORITE "PERFORMED" BY KATE RUSSELL. This is the first time I was totally "turned off" by a narrator and believe me I wanted to "turn it off" several times! I think that the narrator distracted me from the story and as a result I could not relate to the characters at all.The male voices- sounded pre-pubescent not HOT ALPHA bikers! Joker and the other male characters all sounded the same which was very irritating, not to mention confusing!! "Butterfly" acted at times like she was a spoiled whiney girl. Even when there were hot scenes between the main characters it gave me the creeps b/c the narration made them appear "child-like"... YIKES!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I normally will listen to the book in one setting because most of the time even if the storyline has some issues if the narrator is fantastic then I was invested in the overall book and I would BELIEVE the plot, the conflicts, the characters- everything! The narrators job is to make the authors words come alive... just as if the reader who is subsequently imagining the characters feelings, hearing their voices, experiencing the happiness, feeling the sadness, etc.- basically the reader is right there beside the character(s) through imagination and connection. That is one of the major goals/purpose the author has in "telling" the story- to entertain and to connect or hook their audience (also known as authors purpose). This connection is achieved in part by word choice, imagery, and tone-which avid readers naturally do while reading. Consequently, the "narrator" has the VITAL role of delivering all of these things with their voice, tone, diction, connotation etc..In this particular book, Kate Russell did not complete this task where I am concerned.

Any additional comments?

Obviously, many readers do not share my opinion stated in this review. I completely understand because many times and I mean many :) I can totally overlook some flaws in delivery and still get into the book. Sadly, I was unable to overlook the narration which I feel diminished my connection and enjoyment of the entire book. Again, my opinion is that dual narration could have resolved part of the issue (at least for the male characters) in this +15 hour book.Lastly, a suggestion for Audible- in the sample narration clip please add examples read from both genders (female & male) so that perspective listeners/readers can make a better-informed decision on whether to read or skip it.
P.S. I will continue to be a loyal fan & "read" Kristen Ashley's books as she is a very talented author .

This book seemed to go by really fast. Overall, it was a good read- not as fantastic as David's & Jimmy's (my favorites). Ben's story left me wanting more character development as it seemed to repeat some details, but neglects to explain other. If we followed the other characters in the books then we already knew the basics about Liz's background- very little was given concerning Ben. I think the book would not have felt rushed if this info was included in the story.
While there were some hot sex scenes "Deep" cannot compare to the other books in the series. With this said, I do not think it will leave the hardcore Kylie Scott fans disappointed... We will miss Jimmy, Lena, David, Ev, Mal, Ann, Ben, & Liz. Hopefully, this very talented author has more in store for all of her fans.

Almost couldn't get through it cuz I felt like I was at school with the girl/ boy drama & all that was missing were the "like" "ya know" "fuck you" but it did contain the high school " but I love himmm... (Lip trembling, tears etc.). I powered through the book because perhaps it has potential? I do agree with other reviews it is YA and really sophomoric. The characters are aging from 20's through mid to late 20's so the author is perhaps attempting r keep it "young" but I don't feel it should be so immature. Audible really does need to place a disclaimer that reads: Contains "mature" contents but the storyline/characters are "immature" young adults". Do not worry... Safe sex is being practiced though ;)
Hopefully the book about the older Archer brother Rome might contain a more mature storyline with dialogue that will fit. I am on the fence about continuing because I do not want to use a credit and then sit through the same shystola as this book. I am willing to continue if the rest of the series is very different though... Use your credit at your own risk as this might be something that interests you. Like I said I see and deal with the "theme" & "characters" with the same maturity level Zero mis my daily career and I don't want to

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If the friend really loved to read about hot sex scenes then yes... but, I would definitely not recommend this to readers that are use to "tame" love scenes in some romance novels.

What other book might you compare Behind the Plaid to and why?

I would have to compare it to any of author Brenda Jackson's books. Why not a specific book? There are many "Highland" themes to choose from & I cannot make a definite choice because I think I would have loved this book more if we saw Emma and Logan's relationship build & develop out of the bedroom too.

What does Antony Ferguson and Arika Rapson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

LOVED THE NARRATORS!!!! Excellent scottish brog by Antony Ferguson! BOTH narrators kept me listening- even through the screams, groans, moans, anddddddddd lol you get the picture.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

WARNING: ALL INNOCENT CHILDREN (INCLUDING VIRGINS), HORMONE JUMPIN' HORNY TEENS & ANY ADULT(S) THAT CANNOT SAY THE WORD "SEX" WITHOUT BLUSHING OR WHISPERING IT **W I L L N O T B E A D M I T T E D**

Any additional comments?

This is my 1st review. I felt I needed to warn some of you as I rely on reviews when I am unsure about certain books.I value those reviews & I have seen many that summarize the story and relate the ending. No problem with that here ( the main reason I decided to write this) b/c as I was listening to the book I suddenly hear "this has been an Audio production... WTH? I looked at my IPOD & sure enough it had ended. I looked the book up on another site & that is when I read there are 3 books in the series and we will hear more about Emma & Logan as the series continues. Hopefully, Audible will add books 2 & 3 ASAP!
MY OTHER VALID REASON FOR THIS REVIEW IS THAT IF YOU ARE LIKE ME I LISTEN TO MY AUDIO BOOKS IN THE CAR, WHILE AT WORK ON MY LUNCH HOUR, WHILE WORKING IN MY GARAGE/PATIO/HOUSE... PRETTY MUCH EVERYWHERE B/C I LOVE TO "READ"! THIS IS ONE OF THOSE AUDIO BOOKS THAT YOU SHOULD ONLY BE LISTENING TO W/ HEADPHONES (turned down of course), & NOT CRANKED UP ON YOUR CAR STEREO or YOUR SURROUND SOUND SPEAKERS LOCATED IN THE CEILING AT WORK DURING LUNCH (especially if you are a high school teacher like I am lol). YIKES! :o
