it was pretty good in the beginning then the story sped up quite a bit and was little difficult to keep track of all but the main characters. I'd buy any further books. Will make you wish we could live in such fictional times with such technologies.

Found the book both entertaining and educational. Book focuses a lot on Samurai life and how women were treated. Only wish the author wrote about the final battle instead of just a paragraph long summary.

Enjoyed the main plot immensely, sometimes the author would spend many tedious chapters on background history which was not really necessary. Hugo spent about 10 Chapters on the history of Waterloo, explaining the sewers of Paris, or time on French politics. I always enjoyed seeing how much the Broadway version or Hollywood movies differ from the book and as usual there is quite a difference. I have to say I enjoyed The Count of Monte Cristo more than this book.
