Excellent!

This is a well written book, which provides a historical perspective to Trujillo's iron fist rule of the Dominican Republic. The author does a great job improvising for the "unknown" in the life of the Mirabal sisters.

This is an interesting book on how the brain works. The author uses real life examples and provides insight on how humans learn. As an educator, I loved the connections and implications to teaching at all grade levels.

A must read for new teachers

This book has a lot of "real" new teacher issues. It is great for any new teacher of an urban classroom. Don't get caught up in the author's soap box.....otherwise it does provide some good suggestions for a new teacher.

Feel good book

When reading other works by this author, I don't like the negative perspective Kozol has of "all" of our schools. Ordinary Resurrections is different. Although it still gives you a good idea of what it is like in some of our schools, it also gives you the good in our children and in some of our schools.

I found myself listening to The Scarecrow every possible minute. It was hard to turn it off. I finished it in less than a week.

A lot better than the movie

This is a thriller! I remember going to the movies to see it in the big screen, but the movie version falls way short than the book. I recommend it to those that love a great mystery.

Enough bad mouthing our school systems

I think Jonathan Kozol should spend more time providing suggestions and recommendations instead of just ripping the educators who work so hard to get their students the best education possible.
