Natalie Kaleta will do anything for the artists at her gallery, including risk life, limb, and the effect of humidity on her naturally curly hair. Braving a downpour to check on reclusive Ronan Mitchell, Natalie gets stranded by a mudslide at his mountain home, where the brooding glass artist reveals his playful side, sending her inconvenient crush from under-the-radar to over-the-top. After a secret tore apart his family and made him question his sense of self, Ronan fled his hometown for Happily Inc, but the sunny small town can’t fix his damaged heart.

I love Susan Mallery’s books and the towns and characters she creates! This is another great addition. I gave it four stars simply because I only give 5 stars to books that are profound or life changing in some way, not because they are short on entertainment value. This was a very entertaining read. I enjoyed the “meet cute” at the beginning of the novel and I found it interesting how Ronan had to finally deal with the rift between him and his adoptive mother. Natalie was also a character I related to because I too am an artist working to make a full time living at it. I appreciated the extended metaphor of a “ruined” piece of art and how determination and positive attitude can turn something ruined into something even more beautiful. I also love Tanya Eby (the narrator who reads all of Mallery’s books for audible). She’s very easy to listen to and has so much warmth in her voice.

I gave it four stars because I only give 5 stars to books that change my life in some way. While not a life, altering read...it was sweet and enjoyable, and all that Susan Mallory fans love about any of her books!

Ms. MacLeon really knows how to build the story and chemistry between her characters and write a great love scene. If you read a lot of romance novels, love scenes often loose their spice after a while, but hers were very well developed and made even a seasoned romance reader’s heart beat just a little faster! Looking forward to the next one.
